Eating on a budget

The planning goes on.

We all know that eating at DLP could be the most expensive part of the journey.

So I need some tips about where to eat on a budget. I´m not looking for character dinning or Walts/Inventions.

Just a good value for the (budget) money and for 2 adults/2 children.

Are there any "All you can eat" offers ?

Is there any difference in the price if you go out for lunch during the day or at the afternoon ?

Perhaps you can tell me where you are eating if you would go on a budget.

We are also 2 adults 2 children. If we eat at a CS restaurant, we just order childrens meals for all of us, that is normally pleanty of food for the four of us, and much cheaper than paying for 2 adult meals.

I do the same, I buy kids meal at C/S restaurants and kids never finish their meal, so I have more than enough.
last time lunch at Cowboy cookout made us full for the whole day. Sizes were really big and none of us wanted dinner that day. As it's no longer character meal the prices seems very good for what you get. If they haven't cut down meal sizes...
EoS is a great thing too. Kids loved it, food is good and prices also very fine.

Good value for the price is the Pizza Planet (if it is open) or at the village the Earl of Sandwich.

yep, another one here who orders kids meals at counter service instead of adults ones. I don't usually leave the parks at all to have counter service in the Village, but I think we will this time, to go to EoS (with shareholders discount) and possibly even McDonalds.

I get completely fed up with burger meals (and the ever-present fries) at DLP counter service, so I try to eat at Colonel Hathis or Bella Notte (pasta meals with salads etc), Fuente del Oro (Mexican) and I'd like to try Hakuna Matata.
Whether all (or any) of these restaurants are open when I'm hungry on our trip this month remains to be seen, but fingers crossed !

Theres no all-you-can eat counter service, but I find Restaurant des Stars and Plaza Gardens good value all-you-can eat buffets, La Grange at Billy Bobs in the Village is another one I'd do again.

I've always found the table service resturants good value for money. You can get a nice meal for just a few Euros more that at counter service resturants.

Top tips:

Eat a big breakfast! Some people take make sandwiches to eat for lunch in the park.

Be thrifty at counter service restaurants! We're 2 adults 2 kids and we normally order 2 adults meals or 1 adult 2 kids meals between us. There's always plenty of food. We've found the fish and chips (Toad Hall) and Pizza (various) the easiest to share.

If you're kids are under 3, they eat free at buffets.

Some of the table service restaurants have an express lunch menu that is often cheaper. Typically around E20 for 2 courses.

McDoanlds/EOS are both much cheaper than the Disney offerings.

Annettes is the most reasonably priced table service restaurant. You can get a burger, fries, large drink and a dessert for E18. The other table sevice restaurants charge that for the burger and fries alone.

Cafe Mickey can be done cheaply if you're happy to share a couple of Pizzas. 2 pizzas and 2 fries will easily feed a family of 4 and will cost less than E40.

CS is crazy expensive IMO at DLP, I agree that for a couple of euros more a table service meal is good value (in DLP terms). Annette's is easily the best value TS meal and EOS te best counter service.

We eat in the shopping centre! Although we always have a character meal and then usually Plaza gardens so for 3 days out of the 5 we have our main meal at Val d'Europe. Makes the trip a lot more reasonable for the 5 of us.

I'd like to try some of the resturants in Val d'Europe but DW never wants to leave the Disney bubble once we arrive until we have to get the Eurostar home. I'm looking forward to trying EoS in March after all the good reviews I've read on here.

We (DS and I) shared a pizza and kids pasta meal at the Sports bar and it was all tasty and cheap. We picked up bits for ¬13 at the Casino shop on our 1st day and had lunch out of it and didnt have to buy any other snacks over our 4 days. We also did CM on the cheap and I would definately say two pizzas and a garlic bread or fries would be more then enough. Huge portions (garlic bread is same size as the pizza).

That's another top tip!

The shop in the train station sells fresh sandwiches, crisps, drinks etc... at reasonable prices. Security never stop you taking them into the parks.

Is that inside the Eurostar station and if it is; where is it located?? Thanks - sounds like a great hidden gem when it comes to saving money!

Are your Croque things the ones that they sell at the café-buffet bar on the mainline train side of the station ? I know that you can get baguette sandwiches there as there's a Pain à la ligne. Their sandwiches are tasty

Don't these horse burger and now horse mince OH used to eat it, soon stopped when we started living together - I'm not knowingly cooking that

I'll have to look when you mean as I was thinking the other side of the station where there's a bar and a proper site down bit.

You know that Paul's macarons come from the same place as the posher (ie costs twice as much) from Ladurée. They are all made off site in the same factory as it's the same chain group
