Hi guys,

I need some help with choosing a restaurant near Epcot. We will be using the free dining. I have looked at the restaurants in Epcot and nothing looks good. Can anybody give some advise on nearby restaruants to Epcot. Where we could travel by bus or momorail to grab a bite and head back to the park?

Thanks for your help,

Lynette

The monorail would be a bit of a pain, as it only stops at the Ticket and Transportation center, and Epcot. You would need to change to a resort line monorail to access the hotel restaurants. The buses aren't exactly speedy either. I think you would waste a fair amount of time travelling.

The Boardwalk and Yacht and Beach Resort are within walking distance of Epcot. There are quite a few dining options there. Obviously with Epcot having 15 or so table service restaurants, it's a shame there isn't anything that does appeal. What sort of thing are you looking for? Perhaps that is a better starting point.

What about somewhere in the YC/BC/BW area? There are several resturants there. Is it lunch or dinner that you are looking for? Spoodles, Cape May, ESPN, Big Grille off the top of my head. You could walk or take the boat to those areas.

There are some restaurants on the Boardwalk - you can leave Epcot through the International Gateway (located between the UK and France) and walk over there in about 5 minutes.

There's an ESPN Club, Spoodles, Flying Fish, and Big River Brewing Company.

There's also the Yacht Club Galley, Yachtsman Steakhouse, Cape May Cafe, and Beaches and Cream at the Yacht & Beach Club Hotels. There are also a number of restaurants in the Swan and Dolphin, but I don't think they accept the dining plan.

I'm not sure what you're looking for if nothing in Epcot sounds appealing ... that's a pretty wide variety of food choices. :confused3

Yea it is deff. hard when nothing in Epcot is biting...have you just looked at the World showcase side? The garden grill is pretty basic and has a great atmosphere! If nothing is biting in Epcot I would recc. Big River Grille on the Boardwalk it is like a 5 min walk from Epcot, and pretty basic food, liken it to Rock Bottom Brewery...Also spoodles is really good...a little more adventurous but still really good. If coral reef wasn't striking your fancy then I kind of think Beach and Yacht Club might not work out. We love cape may though

Just wanted to spead up in support of the OP that we also don't find much at Epcot table-service that appeals to us, but we're paying ourselves and not on the dining plan, so that rules out some places due to prices. We're more of basic meat & potatoes type of people and used to always go to Le Cellier, but are not as thrilled with them recently due to menu changes. We do enjoy Garden Grille at times, but as our children are getting older, we don't really like to pay the higher prices for a character meal, when we're really just going to the food. We'd normally like Italian, but there's no way we're paying the outrageous prices that the Italian place now charges. So, unfortunately, we're left with nothing, and have also thought about some of the Epcot resort places.

For comparison, we have places we love at MK and DHS like Liberty Tree Tavern (lunch), Plaza Restaurant, 50's Prime Time, and Sci-Fi Dine-In. There's a noticeable lack of places like this at Epcot in my opinion! We don't want characters, but just a reasonably-priced, all-American, table-service meal!
