Wife, Kids, Grandparents (both sets) and I, are all arriving in Port Canaveral the night before our cruise in a week and a half. This is our first time leaving from Port Canaveral...

Any recommendations on where to eat dinner the night before and breakfast the day of? Two of the adults have pretty heavy lactose intolerance, so the pizza place is out (much to my disappointment).

Try Rustys, Fish lips or Grills for dinner. All 3 are on the water and if you there on certain days you can watch the ships leave. There's also Kelseys which is a family type rest.

We enjoyed Rustys and Grills. I would never eat at a place called Fish lips.

MUN

Fish Lips is lots of fun ( when we sail, we love waving at the crowd on their porch as we pass by) There are also lots of chain restaraunts to choose from

Perhaps your hotel will have a nice continental breakfast available so you stay ready for the buffet upon boarding? :) We don't eat breakfast the day of embarkation unless we have a late PAT or something. My son likes to get his favorite "welcome aboard" food items from the buffet and he saves lots of room. :)

I second fish lips. We went at about 630 on Friday the day before our departure in April and had no wait for upstairs. It's a little loud so be prepared for that, but it has a great atmosphere to get everyone excited for the next morning.

you don't say when you are going but I believe Rusty's is closed for renovations right now

Grills has a bit more grilled food rather than fried

but in general all 3 places are similar sitting in a row on the port channel with entertainment that can be a bit loud at time if sitting near the music.

At Grills the music is outside and you can eat out or inside - inside being less noise

all of these are kid friendly and similar in price and menu other than the grill vs fry I mention

We like Grills- second that. Another place-breakfast/lunch is Juice and Java, downtown Cocoa beach. Great smoothies, sandwiches, salads, bagels, coffee. At night there is beer and wine. Friendly place and a must stop for us every time we are in town.

If you are going to Grills, get there early. That place gets *packed* as the day wears on, especially if there's a launch scheduled. That said, I really liked their food. Much more than Fish Lips, but not as much as Seafood Atlantic.

FWIW, we *really* liked Goodfella's next to the liquor store on N. Atlantic. Not all of their food has cheese. My best friend got the Cuban Sandwich (which you could order without cheese if need be) and said it was amazing (and he's *very* picky about his Cuban sandwiches).

We liked Zachary's Family Dinning. We ate lunch and Breakfast there. It is a dinner and we are from NYC so dinners are like home. The price was cheap as well and the menu had something for everyone.

We also ate somewhere else for dinner but can't remember where for the life of me and it wasn't that great.

So if you go to Fishlips or Rusty's, do you go for dinner ~4pm so you can see a cruise leave?
Seems a bit early for dinner but I guess we can go for 4pm and take our time with drinks etc?

Yep. That's what a lot of us do, especially if there is a large group.

Fishlip is delicious and reasonable prices. They are the restaurant that has the webcam where you can watch the ships leave the port. We also love Grills and all the others there. Friends live in Merritt Island, so we eat in the area often.

We also enjoy Fish Lips. They have great app specials that make it worth eating at 4pm.

We ate at Shark Pit Grill and Public down next to Ron Jones last year, the food was good, the beer was great. We had 6 children under 18 with us.
