Eating in AK/DHS

Hi everyone, we'll be going to WDW next month. On our AK day, the park closes at 6, so we were planning on then hopping over to DHS for F!. From what I understand we'd have to be there around 7:30 to ensure we get into F! for that night.

I also figure that since it is an F! night in DHS, the restaurants there will be packed. So, we're looking at some of the AK area places. I've never eaten in any of the TS there, so my question is:

What would you suggest? If we leave AK at ~5, would we have time to eat somewhere at AKL lodge and then get back to DHS by 7:30? If it helps, it would just be me and DBF, so we're pretty flexible.

You will probably need to be in the Fantasmic line an hour early. Do you have your own transportation? If you are relying on WDW bus system, then no, you may cut it too close.

All 3 of the restaurants at AKL are very good. Plan on an hour to eat at either Saana or Boma, 90 minutes at Jiko.

Yes, we are relying on WDW bus system. According to the schedule, F! starts at 9 that night, I was hoping that 7:30 would be early enough?

Even if you leave Animal Kingdom at 5, I'm still not sure if that's enough to get to Hollywood Studios by 7:30, especially relying on the Disney buses. You have to factor in the the possibility of waiting for buses to arrive and the possibility that you have to wait at the restaurant for your table, even with a reservation.

How committed are you to having dinner at Animal Kingdom Lodge? It has some of my favorite restaurants on property, but I'd be a little anxious about the timing. Perhaps consider eating at Yak & Yeti, a nice table-service option in the Animal Kingdom park. I know it probably seems like you're leaving yourself ample time, but in my experience, the Disney bus system always takes longer than expected, leading to unnecessary stress.

Not committed at all! We always stay off-property, so rarely eat at any TS places, and I'm just now sure where to even start!

My recommendation?

Leave Animal Kingdom when it closes. Go to the Animal Kingdom Lodge. Have a cocktail at the Victoria Falls Lounge. Have dinner with your boyfriend at Jiko. Blow off Fantasmic. Jiko is much more fun.

I would leave Animal Kingdom at 4 or so to get to Boma/Sanaa/Jiko at 5 for an early dinner (make sure you have an ADR)...I would think that you could be done by 7. Then catch the bus to AKL

The bus service at AKL was VERY good both times we went.
