I have lost about 10 pounds in the past three weeks with another 80 to go to get back to my once pre-baby weight. I'm wondering for those who were actively trying to lose - how did you eat healthy in WDW? Where did you eat - what did you eat? We are using the Dining plan with one sit down meal and one quick serve a day - I'm not concerned about the sit down meals as I tried to pick buffet style places so I could go nuts on fruits and veggies without imposing my healthy eating on everyone else vacationing with me. What about quick serve meals though? I didn't plan our quick serve meals well last time but this time each day I want to have a couple of options that I know the menu for not only for myself, but so we don't have to walk all over the parks trying to find food everyone will eat.

Any help appreciated! BTW - I'm watching calories. I'm not fanatic - I try to eat 1400-1600 calories on workout days and 1200-1400 non-workout days. I just am hoping not to eat salad all five days.

I wasn't trying to lose weight but I try to eat healthy when I can. I had turkey breast sandwich at BOG lunch and flame tree bbq. I just asked for the mayo on the side. At Sunshine seasons in Epcot they have healthier choices like fish. I got the rotisserie chicken but didn't eat the skin. It might be worth it to check out the menus on all ears to give you an idea of what is out there.

I remembered a few more options

Cosmic Rays - grilled chicken sandwich / veggie burger
Columbia Harbor House - salads, salmon, and a few sandwiches

I'm not 100% sure if they would, but you could ask to sub fresh apple slices (from kids menu) for say the chips/fries too? But these were the types of things that I ate last time. I can't eat gluten so I usually have to eat a bit healthier since I can't typically eat fried food and such anyhow. Plus if I eat healthier for my meals then I feel like I have a bit more wiggle room for dessert if i'm tempted :goodvibes

On my last trip, I ordered meals without fries to save $2 and calories. Do they still do that?

There are a lot of healthy CS options in WDW. You could also get the healthy Mickey Meals for kids for portion control, they seem to have some good options.

I second the pp to look at the menus on AllEars ahead of time so you have an idea which places have good options and which are a lost cause. :rotfl:

Even at the worst place you could get a burger and forgo the fries.

Also remember that you will be walking a ton and burning some extra calories!! I am also thinking about how to make better food choices. I am down 20 lbs and have about 30 more to go. I do plan on enjoying my meals, but control portions and just choose better foods. Good luck!!

Thank you all!!

You are so right about the walking...I'm now down 16 lbs woohoo! Still a little concerned about what I'll eat there as I haven't had time to look at menus but I'm going to do that later tonight. Thanks for the great advice (and congrat's on your loss MissNurse!)

I've tried many "diets", "healthy eating plans" etc. What has worked the best for me is the simplest... for each meal eat enough protein for the size of your palm, eat as many veggies as you can and enough fat for the size of your thumb. With that general guideline I've been able to find something healthy to eat pretty much anywhere I go.
