Eating at Universal

What's your favorite way to eat at the parks? I'm not much for park food, but know we will have to buy some meals there.

This is our first Universal visit! (We're traditionally Disney people!) We'll be doing in December.

We are staying at RPR, so no fridge or anything to store groceries. I don't want to carry snacks around the park anyway.

Other than our reservations for Three Broomsticks, we don't have any other food plans. I'd like to avoid pricey, greasy park food as much as possible. What tips and tricks do you have for us?

For table service....I would recommend:
Finnegan's or Lombard's at the Studios and Mythos at IOA.

For counter service....I would recommend:
Thunder Falls Terrace and Blondie's at IOA and Louie's at the Studios.

Then you have all the CityWalk restaurants too and just about of the restaurants are good.

There are lots of really good restaurants at Univerval. Our personal favourite is Mythos. We love their potato rosemary bread.

We also really like Margaritaville for their volcano nachos, Sal's Deli (at Portofino) for their pizza.

For breakfast we really like Boulangerie for their ham/egg/cheese croissants. They have great sandwiches and salads too.

We are light eaters during the day.But we always do the Boulangerie at the studios or the Croissant Moon at IOA for a quik snack before doing that park.

If we get alittle snack hungery during the day we will get popcorn or a hotdog at Nathan's for a quik fix.

Now dinner is were we like to splurge.I can type for hours on the restruants,but its up to your taste on what you like.Check out these links to get a idea!!

We are the same.

We eat breakfast in our room (we get a styrofoam cooler loaded w/ milk, juice, water, cream cheese, bagels and donuts and danish) and then have a snack or something small for lunch. (Like burger or pizza or sandwich)

Then we do an early, bigger dinner...usually at City Walk. (beats the crowds too )

The parks only have 2 TS each...rest is CS with "that" kinda fare.

There are more TS and selections at CityWalk.

For instance, I have a feeling when we check in at PBH this year, a stop at Burger King at City Walk is in order

If you're staying at RPR definitely go to Tchoup Chop. You won't be dissapointed!

Agree with what other posters said, and its not like Disney ,where you would have to travel miles outside the park for food.
At Universal its minutes to Citywalk with numerous restaurants to choose from, and restaurants at the resorts, our fav place to eat is at RPR as well, but its at The Islands, or take a break from the park and lounge around the pool and have something from the Bula Grille.

We like Richter Burger for a lunch and Finnigan's for dinner in Univeral. At IOA we like Tunder Falls for lunch and we usually go to Margaritaville in City Walk for dinner. We also do a quick breakfast at the Croissant Moon - they have a nice continental breakfast. If you are AAA members, your card will get you 10% off in all the restaurants in the parks, and most of them in City Walk. It will also give you a 10% discount at the snack carts and most stores.
