Dont know whether this is in the right place but can anybody tell me some meal ideas to have in the room we have the all star suite at Music and I am limiting our dinners (eating at CS reasturants) to when we are at the parks and the rest of the meals in our room. I am planning on bringing my crockpot, george formen grill and electric fry pan but I am looking for simple meal ideas. we are planning to hit the grocery store before check in so if anybody has any ideas i would really appreciate them

Disney does not allow those items in the resort rooms. They are fire hazards. You may be asked to leave, without a refund.

Honestly, if you need to bring a crockpot, grill and frying pan you really have no business staying on property. These are hotel rooms to sleep in and enjoy.

If I saved and paid good money for a room and the person next door was frying food I think I'd flip.

Sorry, maybe you need to postpone the trip until you have funds for meals.

OP said All Star Family Suite .... I think she has a small kitchen in the suite.

Missed that...sorry OP, I thought you were in a regular room. This has been a topic of several joke/troll threads before, I thought another one was starting.:flower3:

If the room is a designated kitchenette, she can cook what she wants. Not my idea of a vacation, I would rather just share CS meals and eat cereal for breakfast. To each her own.

momxx5, your post is exactly what I was thinking when I thought she was staying in a regular room. Who wants to walk into their room to rest and relax and smell dinner cooking in the next room.

WOW i thought this was a budget board Ok i am just asking simple questions and you all are treating me like i just committed the ultimate sin I will rethink my plans thanks for all the help:confused:

I am sorry I did not mean to personally offend you, honestly.

Its just the reality of cooking with applicance in hotel rooms. Maybe if its a suite than its acceptable.

We stay at FT. W cabins and I cook a few things there....mostly breakfasts for a quick meal before we hit the parks. But the cabins have full kitchens and are seperate units from each other.

You're right, it is!!!! :rotfl: Others don't want you cooking food in a hotel room. Have you thought about renting DVC? They have suitable kitchens to cook in.

Nah, people that commit the ultimate sin get boiled in oil and then tarred and feathered. As an added bonus, we drag them down the street on a pole. :rotfl2:

You're welcome :yay: Maybe you can eat your main meal out and then rent a refrigerator and have sandwiches in the room.

hotdogs in the crock pot.perhaps chips to go with it.
hamburgers on the foreman.
ham and chesse sandwitches foreman.
i would just make my family suffer with regular bread! lol no designer hotdog buns in the suite LOL

If you are staying in an ASMsuite they have a fridge, coffee pot, and microwave. It is a kitchenette if you will. You can't bring appliances with you. It is not intended for that. It is not a suite with a full kitchen. If you are looking for a full kitchen I would look at the Ft. Wilderness cabins. They are wonderful. They have a fully equiped kitchen that is meant for cooking in.

Wow...some brutal responses...hope I never ask a question that's a little off the beaten path..

I would suggest things like soup and sandwiches...chef boyardees (not the most healthy option).. or the banquest microwave meals... Tonight I was in the need for a quick meal so I popped a gravy and salisbury steak entree and it was done in no time...

Just remember that the refridgerators are very small, so you won't be able to stock pile too much food that needs to be refrigerated...

I'm renting a suite in May, but we chose to go with the DDP... we will only use the kitchenette for breakfasts on most days..

yup, that's the pre-show entertainment for the MK parade. We'll make sure to wear our lime green shirts so you know it's us...:lmao:

Seriously though OP, I think you'd do fine with breakfast - donuts and cereal. Sandwiches or subs, even pb&j for lunch or dinner. In a pinch everybody could order a counter service kids meal. Maybe order dominos pizza with coupons or pizza hut to keep costs down but after a day in the parks you probably won't want to cook anyway.

I know I sure wouldn't want to be tied to going all the way back to AS by bus before I could feed the kids dinner.
It sounds quicker/easier than it is in reality.

Instead, why not think portable or easy microwave stuff. There's a grocery store at the end of Hotel Blvd that carries things you won't need cooking appliances for and you'll probably have a better time while still economizing.

I'm sorry if you are offended. That is certainly not my intent. I just want to make sure that you know that those items are not allowed, even in the family suites, and that the resort might ask you to leave, as they are a fire hazard.

As someone else suggested, I would do sandwiches, and use the microwave that is supplied in the suite.

This is the budget board, and I have received a lot of helpful advice here. I am trying to pass that on.

I do hope that you have a wonderful, and safe, vacation.

As much as I hate to say this, because I can't stand smelling food wafting into my room, when this came up a couple years ago, I wanted to prove that Disney did not allow appliances. So I wrote guest services (this was after our 'neighbor' had a George Forman grill in between our two rooms cooking, if I remember right, sausage and onions, and when I posted about it on the Dis, everyone told me they weren't allowed. Yet when we complained (since it was sitting under our air conditioner intake) the front desk said it was allowed). I posted their answer at the time, and apparently (at least at that time) the stupid appliances were allowed. I was told they had to be unplugged when we left the room, or the maid would unplug it when she came in.
I personally think people should rent with a full kitchen and a fan and a sink to wash dishes with, if they want to cook, especially since the curtains and bedspread hold the smell for the next guest and are not washed. But that said, unless things have changed, it is what it is. I don't like it, and I think it borders on rude to cook smelly foods in what is essentially a bedroom, but I don't own the place.

I would keep the meals simple -- it's your vacation, too, and you don't want to be spending it cooking. How about cereal and pastries for breakfast, sandwich and salad fixings and perhaps potatoes to bake? Add some juice, milk and other beverages and some fruit and other snacks and you're good to go.

September is a long way off. If you're not a member already, join Sunshine Rewards and My Points and set aside some time every day to do the surveys and free offers. You should be able to get somewhere around $300 in Disney/Rainforest Cafe gift cards between now and then. Use them to enable your family to do more meals out. There are a number of good counter service places, many with servings big enough to share. The Music food court has pretty decent food, too.

We always bring our breakfast stuff, soft drinks and water and snacks. We carry water to the parks with us and small snacks in our fanny packs. Beyond that, I'm on vacation and we're eating out!

You can't bring appliances with you. .

you can. People do it all the time. And no, it's not against Disney rules. However, someone on the boards emailed Disney a while back and posted the response. You are welcome to use any appliance you like in the room as long as you don't leave it plugged in all day -- which means you cannot leave a crockpot on all day. I think the mousekeepers will unplug it.

Enjoy your trip!
