Okay, I am feeling like I don't know anything but I need to know... If you are staying at one of the Resort Hotels can you eat at one of the restaurants at one of the other Hotels? This is probably a silly question but this is the first time I am going to be staying over. Usually a 1 day trip and this is my honeymoon. We are very excited!!

Congratulations! I would recommend you skip the Napa Rose (not that you even mentioned it) and go for the Vineyard Room in DCA. Much better food, service, atmosphere, and value. Have fun! Sus:)

Trying to decide....
We are staying at GC 4 nights next month and cannot decide which restaurant to have our "special" dinner at, Granville's or Napa Rose.

Pam, can you tell me more about Granville's? Are all the steaks really big? Is it an a-la-carte menu? Are the sides good? What did your family have and was the meat far superior to grocery store steak? When you say "pricey", like how much? $30 per person, or more?

Sue, what did you not like about Napa Rose? Was it service or food related, or both? We had dinner at Catal last time and the service was not very good, therefore kind of leaving a negative dining experience in my mind. I know Napa is very expensive, is it just way overpriced or what?

Our best dining experiences thus far have been Hook's Point (kinda surprised me how wonderful the food was combined with the Neverland Pool view) and Ralph's Jazz kitchen (last week for my birthday), honestly our waiter was slendid and all three of us had heavenly fish dishes.

I TRULY appreciate any input and comments anyone can provide, thanks so much!

Linda :D

P.S. Toadiac - Good Luck with your dining selections and Congrats on your upcoming wedding/honeymoon:Pinkbounc

Hi lulubelle,
Granville's is all a-la-carte. You pay for everything seperate. But on the menu there was 1 special with a steak, patato and salad for about $35. Our bill was $94.00 and that included soup for both of us, I had a 16 oz New York Strip and spinage and my husband had prime rib and patato. The steak was so good that you could cut a 1 inch thick steak with a butter knife, and it tasted SO SO good. I only ate half, put it in a to go box and heat it up in the snack shop at our hotel. Even as a leftover it was still great. And you also talked about the Napa Rose. We checked the menu and disided to skip because on the menu there was nothing that I would eat. We are from New Orleans and we don't combine what they had combined. Hope this has helped.
Pam

Hi Linda. I just got back from DL and ate at both Granville's and Napa Rose. They are two completely different restaurants. Granville's is a steakhouse. The steaks were excellent. But the decor of the restaurant is nothing special. It's a comfortable dining room but there are no windows. In short, the food is a lot better than the ambiance.

Napa Rose, in my opnion, is the best resturant at DL. It's a combination of excellent California cusine and striking decor. We chose Napa to celebreate my wife's birthday and it was the right choice.

If your taste for food runs on the more basic and simple side, then you'll probably like the menu at Granville's. If you like to try different food items then Napa Rose is the place.

Pricewise, you won't get out of either restaurant for less than $50 pp, closer to $75 if you drink. You can get a bit of a break at Granville's. When we were there they offered a complete three-course meal for $30. I noticed the same thing at Catal so perhaps it's a trend. But I didn't see it at Napa. Good luck. Tom.

Pam & Tom-
Thank you both so much for the quick response. I appreciate every detail provided, but now I am more torn than ever. They both sound great! I think I will let DH decide if he wants a "heavenly steak" or upscale unusual meal at Napa (I read some menus posted on LP but also read they change ALL the time). I will post when we get back on our dining experience.

Thanks again:D

If you haven't already, check out www.colddeadfish.net for DLR menu's. Cindy does a great job of keeping the menu's up to date and writes nice reviews of her experience.

OMG Sonya, you are right. The menus and reviews are very current. I just read Napa's menu for Autumn 2003 and already decided what I would order, now if I can only really go! Thanks!
