Eating At Disney Village

i went to PH once.. and i personally wouldn't go back for dinner there.

- the food was to pricey
- the service was very slow (even though it wasn't very busy)
- the food wasn't all that special tbh
- and it all all a bit rushed once we got out food.

Ive had much better meals in Annettes!!
:worship: Annettes all the way :worship:

Please don't tell anyone but on my January trip i went Mcdonalds for lunch...sssssh lol.

Ssshh lol ! We went to McD's one evening (think it was the day we came back from our day trip to Paris?!) and I have to say, we rather enjoyed it lol. Think the 'simplicity/quickness' of it was very welcomed after all the big meals we've had in DLP. Oh and it was the cheapest meal as well :rotfl:

Cafe Mickey is fabulous for chaotic fun in the evenings, the food isn't anything to write home about though IMO.

I really enjoyed my meal at the Rainforest Cafe, the atmosphere and decor is amazing in there (tropical thunderstorms and everything). We were there at a quiet lunchtime though, so had no problems with slow service etc.

Our absolute favourite in the Village, and the one we return to every single visit, is Annettes. DD and I both really love the food, the decor, the service, everything about it.

A tip for PH is to go through the shop on the ground floor and there is a floor of the restaurant there that is generally quieter than upstairs and we didn't have a photographer hassling us.

I'll miss the burgers and waiteresses dancing on the bar in Annettes but DW is adamant she won't set foot in there again.

I vote for Annettes too, but for 16E you can get a pizza at Cafe Mickey AND lots of characters to come hug you!! Obviously you need to factor in drinks and stuff too, but I'm never gonna go and not go to CM again if I can help it!!

it's your holiday! Treat yourself!!

Another vote for Annette's here too - but then I would say that wouldn't I?

Imagine having a restaurant named after you, how cool it that? :lmao:

What happened to your DW, if you don't mind me asking?

The only thing I didn't like about PH was the photographer and probably wouldn't go back because I disliked being hassled by this. They do insist on taking a photo although you're not obliged to buy, I don't like that type of selling.

I just said 'No.' very firmly. And then when he kept asking I said 'No.' again, and when he kept talking I ignored him. He left very quickly.

We were downstairs in PH so the photographer does venture downstairs too.
Despite visiting Annette's several times we've never seen anyone roller skating or dancing, although we did get a visit from Elvis on one visit and he was hilarious. :)

What happened to your DW, if you don't mind me asking?

She was sitting on a chair with the baby on her knee and leant slightly sideways to see our other daughter who was dancing/watching the waitresses on the bar and one of the legs on the aluminium chair she was sat on just suddenly snapped off. She fell on the floor but was able to put the baby on the table as she fell so the baby didn't fall to the floor with her.

The staff didn't seem to notice (even though she was sprawled on the floor)until she went over and shouted at the maitre d' with the broken chair in her hand and then they got first aid to attend. They took 10% off our bill (wow!) for the inconveniance, although the waiter was very embarrassed about asking us to pay anything. My wife was very sore and when she got home went to the doctors who sent her for physiotherapy where it was established she had damaged her pelvix. We contacted our travel insurance and they sent a complaint/claim ion to Disney for us, but warned that personal injury settlements in France were not as generous as in the UK. After a month or so Disney came back and offered us a 2 Night stay at Hotel New York for up to 4 people and 3 days in the parks valid for 2 years. We were advised to accept this and are going on 30th September but have paid for one extra night as we thought we'd be rushed just staying 2 nights particularly in view of the flight times.

EEK!! Next time I'm at Annettes I think I'll stand! Sorry to hear about your incident, I hope your DW is better now. Not really the 'Disney' experience you would have been hoping for!

As far as food goes I dont rate PH at all. I had a major fall out with the photog. after he made my daughter take her glasses off for the photo, telling her she was better without them. Age 8, just prescribed them and feeling V-self concious about them, we had just got her feeling ok wearing them. Blethering idiot!!! Photo was rubbish anyway. (didnt buy it!)

The food was below par as well, and the noise!

Possibly a bit bizarre, but our fav. (cheap) dining spot in the whole of disney is the sandwich bar next to the sports bar. (blank moment, can't remember the name). They do great baguette sandwiches, chips, panninis etc. Meal deals are cheap and staff couldnt be nicer- or more helpful.

On the 'not cheap' side it would have to be Cafe Mickey, though King Ludwig's has been good the last 2 times I visited. Strange menu choices, but V-tasty.

Have a great trip.

You should have complained about that! Insensitive idiot (I have stronger words, but this is a family friendly board.....)...... If someone told me to remove my glasses and that I looked better without them I would have had serious words!!

Wifes okay now, but won't go to Annettes! Wouldn't mind but everytime we'd been previously we'd been in a booth near the centre of the restaurant with a great view of the dancing on the bar. This time we were sat right next to the window at the entrance on aluminium chairs, and it was freezing cold due to the door keep being opened next to us!

You mean new York Sandwiches which is also very very good and as you say pretty cheap.
