Eating around the World.....

If you can get a ressie at le Cellier (Canada) try for dinner. The mushroom topped filet is the best!

The pork tenderloin at Le Bistro de Paris is magnifique!

Can't go wrong with anything from Nine Dragons

I personally like the chicken bastilla from the Restaurant Merrakesh. It's unique to have chicken and cinnamon flavors wrapped in a flaky pastery. The harira (sp?) soup was good too but I had to add some salt.

Lemon pie from the Rose and Crown dining room

The restaurant Akershus (Norway) was good..... I was very impressed with their cheese selection

Oh how much fun!

We have had various quick and table food around the WS. The food is good...but my favorites are the beer! LOL There is just something about walking around in the sunshine with the palm trees and flowers all around, on vacation, not driving for a week, all with a cold beverage in your hand...sigh...

My hubby and I are beer connoisseurs, specifically craft beer. Last year we started a collection of mugs from various countries (we shared so we could 'sample'). We have quite a few more countries that we are looking forward to getting mugs from this time around! ;) I will say that my favorite was the Samuel Adams Brick Red Ale. According to the girl in the 'America' food area it is only available in WDW WS and in Boston. It was SO good! (Of course we are partial to both Sam Adams and Boston, having traveled there in the past as well...).

I would say go with your favorite food and work your way around the WS. If you are huge dessert lovers, candy lovers, etc. opt for that. Or you could start with an appetizer at one country, a main course at another, a dessert at another, etc. Either way - don't forget to take pictures so you can remember what you had! :)

I wish they did a Dessert Tour, I would do that!!!

I did not know that they had a wine tour! I think a dessert tour would be popular as well! Also a beer tour!

For those of you who do Drink Around the World, do not forget Hovels in Germany. The best beer in World Showcase, IMO.

where can one purchase this passport for the wine tour?? that sounds awesome! I am leaving in 11 days and we are spending a whole day at Epcot, sounds like something me and DH would like a lot.

My dream vacation is to stay in a monorail resort with park hoppers for a whole week and eat in a different country in WS every night.. :lovestruc Maybe one day.....

mmmmm eating at epcott ...

I love the boulangerie in France - all the baked goods and the ham and cheese croissant. My husband mentioned wanting to eat in Japan again - I don;t even known what he got there that he loved last time.
I kept reading good revews about Via napoli and was thinking maybe we should eat a table service meal there - than i read that they do counter service pizza by the slice - so i want to try that this time. Maybe a slice to share though because I want to save room for half a dozen other things.
We are all having lunch at Le Cellier at my husband's request and now I am thinking hmmmmm maybe we should let him eat there by himself and the rest of us can eat various counter service options to save money because they sound equally delicious.

Last time we went dinner at le cellier was one table service credit - and my husband was thinking we should book it 2-3 times for this trip - i had to gently break it to him that it's 2 credits now - and we're skipping the dining plan anyway.

You can buy the passport at any of the 3 countries, and start drinking. You can do your 6 glasses in any order you want.

Wow you guys are AMAZING! I can't wait for our trip now!! DH has been so patient with me as I go through all the food porn pics, but I think secretly he's ready for the trip go be over :rotfl: but I know as soon as I mention the beer I'll peak his interest again:lmao:

Oh and for the record if anyone from Disney is reading this...... I DEFINITELY agree with the idea of the dessert passport :worship:

We decided to eat around the world this time, take a look at what we chose and what we thought about them:

Mexico - I cant remember exactly what this was but it was tasty but I wouldn't pick it again I don't think so.

Norway - Sweet Pretzel - This was very tasty and light, perfect after Mexico

SNV83594.jpg

China - Shrimp Fried Rice with Spring Roll - This was nice but a little boring

SNV83598.jpg

Germany - Bratwurst - This was very tasty and would definitely go for this again. The beer was a little thick for me but my fiance enjoyed it.

SNV83612.jpg

Italy - Cookie and Cream Gelato - Great, tasty and refreshing!

SNV83630.jpg

Japan - Japan is my favorite to eat at everytime!

SNV83649.jpg

Morocco - Lamb Platter - It was dry which was a real shame, I think it would have tasted great fresh

SNV83672.jpg

France - Chocolate Mousse - Perfect way to finish the day. Very sickly though my fiance had to finish it off for me, he didn't mind in the slightest though!

Let's see, we have done this twice but neither time did we quite hit all 11 countries. It's a lot of food, even split between two people who have big appetites, and specifically just getting appetizer portions.

2009: Mexico - nachos (good), Norway - lefse (meh), China - orange chicken (YUM)

Germany - bratwurst (good), Italy - frozen cappuccino (good), America - funnel cake (good)

Japan - didn't see anything that appealed to our starting-to-get-full bellies...saw some Pocky in the shops but didn't want something else sweet right after the funnel cake

Morocco - split a chicken wrap, which also came with couscous and lentil salad (good, sauce was a little watery)

France - basically the end since Canada has no QS and I have a fish allergy...got a chocolate eclair and an apple tart. Yum!

Canada - nothing, they need a QS location! Thought about buying some maple candy but passed.

UK - nothing, the Yorkshire Fish and Chips shop serves only fish, or chips fried in the same oil as the fish.

2010: Mexico - a frozen margarita...tried to start off a little lighter, haha!

Norway - sweet pretzel with almonds (too sweet for me!)

China - orange chicken again (bleh...did they change the sauce recipe?)

Germany - bratwurst (still great),

Italy - starting to get full, opted for alcohol instead...a Limoncello shot each, and one glass of Rosa Regale to split

America - nothing, still too full, and come on, it's America

Japan - DH wants to try sushi, I am allergic, and full enough from the brat to wait until Morocco. Turns out DH hates sushi (he tried it a couple more times after that in other places...nope, not a sushi fan).

Morocco - wanted to go with something we knew was good after the sushi, so we got the same chicken wrap plate as last year (sauce was still a little watery)

France - basically the end once more, for the same reasons as above - got their cheesecake and a strawberry tart. One of those big plump strawberry halves from the tart, plus a bite of cheesecake = best taste treat of all our World Showcase travels!

Canada/UK - nothing

-------------------------
ETA: I see people mentioning items from TS places as well. Usually our "eat around the world" includes only what you can get from QS places, stand-alone kiosks, or candy from the shops, but we have had a few TS WS dinners that we enjoyed as well.

Nine Dragons - honey chicken, General Tso's dumplings are good
Les Chefs - onion soup is great, as are the profiteroles
Le Cellier - everything. At least, I haven't tried something that I disliked yet! Mushroom filet, cheese soup, bread, tomato stack app, chipotle chicken sausage app...mmm...

thank you guys!! LOVED the pics!!!! I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO excited!!! I just cant wait until March!!! I am sitting here late at night drooling!!! I am supposed to be dieting- but this is making it SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO hard:rotfl:
