Eat, Run and Celebrate- Day 7- Last Day and New Orleans

I  Big Al.
Me too

No Tinker Bell on the 40th anniversary???? That just doesn't seem right. I mean, if you're not gonna do anything special, and then no Tink? What is the World coming to? I don't remember it being stormy or windy that night. Wonder why no Tink?

It really wasn't anything odd weather wise. I was kind of bummed about that because I had a perfect shot too.:lmao:

All caught up and hoping I remember HALF of what I wanted to comment on.

A line for the Peoplemover??? :scared1:

I HAD to take a picture of that.. I have a few incredible line pictures from this trip.

Sorry the 40th was perhaps more lowkey than desired. I'm also hoping for a big 50th blowout and a DIS town meet to coincide with it. Is it wrong to want to start planning 10 years out?

Disney said is was going to be lowkey but you always hope for more.

I hope the 50th is a big blowout and no it is not too early to plan.:goodvibes

So glad you were able to get some of the exclusive merchandise the next day! Very cool pins. I got the "peace, love, mickey" magnets for my car. I see some people chuckling at it but I don't care... makes me smile everytime I see it! :)

I am really glad I got the " I was there" pin. I gt one of the last ones.

Very cool that the horse knows the routine well enough to know when it's time to get ready to move to the next station. Such smart animals. I hope they have a good life there! I'm sure they do!!

The horse was hamming it up too. That is what was really funny.

Bus music - isn't it amazing that they take the themeing to that level?? You've probably experienced the sea gulls/wave crashing soundtrack on the Beach Club bus. Sounds silly but can really lull you to sleep on those late night return trips!

I love that touch of music on the bus. Always in th e Disney bubble.

Country Bears - I haven't seen them in years. May have to visit in May!

I do it every so often but not every trip.

Memory failing. Am sure there was much more I wanted to comment on. Thanks so much for sharing your trip with us. Looks like it was an amazing vacation. And so excited for you that you are headed back shortly!!

Happy New Year! :)

Sorry I rushed it a bit. :guilty: Heading out to dinner shortly.

Ooooo. I love all of your pins !! You really got some great ones !!

I did and this trip I already got more.:goodvibes

Pat - I am finally caught up on your last round of pictures and they are A-mazing! I really love all your pictures and the AllStars resorts. I haven't stayed there in such a long time and I really love  them. I think the piano pool is my all time favorite quiet pool and I am serious!

I love all your pins. They are all great. Wonderful souvies. I still have to go back and read about race day. Somehow I missed that.

What a fun evening at HS and you certainly used the FP to your advantage. Too funny about the bus driver forgetting about EMH,

I hope you are having a great time and really enjoying SSR. I am staying in the treehouses this summer. I expect lots of pics!

Happy NYs! Have an awesome meet tonight!

Oh my gosh, I can't believe how many souvenirs you got during this trip. I'm so jealous of all your limited edition pins. I need more limited edition pins, especially when you got more of those than I have of pins. Even more reason to go back to the world... And I was so glad to see that you revitalized more trash can pictures, the true unacknowledged in the World lol

I read about you going to the World during NYE, so I hope you had an awesome time and a had a very Happy New Year! (even if I may have said that earlier :D)

Can't wait to read more! :mickeyjum

All caught up! You got some great pictures and love all the loot!

Wow....so many updates. All of the pictures are great. We've not been to All-Star Sports since 2000 (where we left after 3 days because we didn't like it), and we never got over to the other All-Star resorts so it is neat seeing pictures.

I love that other monorail sticker...that would be a good one for Mark.

I still can't get over how close all the resorts are to each other. When we went way back in 2001 I think. I guess with 2 small kids and a husband the walk just seemed really long.:goodvibes
My goal with those pictures was exactly that. If you have never been over there, it is something new to see.

Have a great time Pat!

Thanks I did. A trip over the holidays is not without drama, and I am exhausted now. Tomorrow is the last full day. :sad2:
Have fun, Pat.

And HAPPY NEW YEAR!

HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!

Very interesting about the horse. Animals are so much smarter than we give them credit for.

They are much smarter than they ;et us know. This horse was a bit of an actor. It was almost as if he was hamming it up.

Me likey.

:goodvibes:goodvibes

Glad you made it safely! Wish we had a trip planned down there this year! :) Enjoy the weekend. Was watching the weather and Sunday/Monday are supposed to be nice, and then a big temperature drop. Gonna be really cold when you get back home.

;) Replying now and you are so  I wish was not on the opposite end of the property rgiht now and not exhausted. I hope you enjoyed dinner despite all the menu changes.

I may be wrong but this looks like the guy that was the monkey in Mickey's Jingle Jungle Parade at AK in 2008, and also was in the BPB at DHS a few days before that. I will go back and try to find the link to that part of my TR so we can compare. Hush....it's important stuff to know! :rolleyes1

Looks Like the guy. Ahh the jingle jungle... another parade on the still to do list.:sad2:

Great choice.

Oh, and way to school the bus driver. :lmao:

Thanks and there was no way I was not going to use those TSM FPs. :rotfl:

ETA: Okay, found the link - I even have a video of him. See if you think this is the same guy (the one with the monkey puppet/float): http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=32259875&postcount=2115

I think it is him. He is of course younger looking but it certainly could be him. And yes it is important. ::yes::

I am glad everyone is getting caught up. I still really like POP. BEing able to easily fill my mug on the way back to room is something I miss right now.

I love all your pins. They are all great. Wonderful souvies. I still have to go back and read about race day. Somehow I missed that.

Race day may actually be a the end of the last post of FRiday Sept 30th.

What a fun evening at HS and you certainly used the FP to your advantage. Too funny about the bus driver forgetting about EMH,

I am hoping the bus driver just got on duty and did not check her schedule.

I hope you are having a great time and really enjoying SSR. I am staying in the treehouses this summer. I expect lots of pics!

Happy NYs! Have an awesome meet tonight!

I did enjoy SSR but since that was the first time, you will see I had a learning curve.

Happy New Year.

I still saw some Limited edition ones like the ones I got.
Someday I need to go through my pictures and sort them by park and category.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

All caught up! You got some great pictures and love all the loot!

Great! Now I have to work on the new one. :lmao:

So when you've been away from the DISboards for a few days and you have to go back and catch up on TR's, do you find yourself reading them backwards as you click back through the pages trying to catch up? Not that anyone else would do this, of course. :rolleyes1

So I think I made it through to the end of the trip. Or rather, read the end of the trip and then went back through time to where I'd left off. Looks like it was a blast! I'm glad you got your 40th anniversary pins and the cool FP seat at the FOTLK show! Lots of good TSM scores and ride experiences. And now I want a monorail car magnet. Hope your most recent trip was great, and I can't wait to hear about it! :thumbsup2

I save the TR in my favorites with page and post number where I left off. When I have been away and come back to see my page and number where I left off is 10 pages from the last page now I  a bit.
What stinks is when the DIS is acting up and I don't save and realize I already read some of what there. :)

Links at the front sometimes help you figure out where you left off. ;)

This trip is just about over. Waiting to gather up, pack up and head out.
Monorail car magnet can be found at Mousegears or the TTC store. :thumbsup2

This trip was exhausting. It was crowded and a bus driver put it best. The first time you do a trip over NYE, you love it and forget all the bad stuff. So you do it again, then you remember and say never again.

I am not at the never again stage, but transportation at times was tough.

I hope to catch up on other TRs at the airport and I wish that kid in the next room would stop screaming.

A couple of titles for the next one.
The noisiest trip ever
Feed the bear, but not that!!
Note to self- take snickers next time

Mon Oct 3rd My flight was not super early so I didn’t have to stay up all night like last time.

ME was on time and the usual drill. I once again had to drag the 3 bags I had to be checked in by myself.

I was obviously still in my Disney brain since I went through security and got on the faux monorail

PA025832.jpg

Only one problem, My set of gates were over there.

PA025834.jpg

See the Southwest planes?? As Liesa would say – Moronic move. Luckily ME drops you off with plenty of time to screw up what you are doing when you attempt to re-enter the real world.
Good bye Palm trees.

PA025833.jpg

Again flight was uneventful and soon I landed here.

PA025835.jpg

I was directed downstairs to collect my luggage. No ME here. There was construction going on and thankfully I decided to use the facilities before my luggage came out because well, then I would have 3 bags to wrestle with in the bathroom.

I encountered something new.

PA025836.jpg

A toilet with plastic already around it. Then it is supposed to move around. I wondered if would feed new plastic or just keep moving that set length around and around.

I boarded the shuttle and I was the last one on so we left right away. Great. According to another passenger we were going a round about way through downtown New Orleans. Since everything was new to me I had no idea.

Finally reaching my hotel I walked up to check in. It was around 2 pm.
Me; I am here to check in.

Clerk: Check in is not until 4pm. ( Goes back to whatever she was doing)
Me: (after a few seconds) I understand the room is not ready yet but can I check in and leave my bags?
Clerk: Check in is at 4.
Me: Ok what can I do?
Clerk: You can come back at 4.
Me: Can I leave my bags somewhere safe?
Clerk: Yes we can check them for you.

Yikes. Talk about reality slapping you in the face. So I release my bags, not sure if I would actually see them again and then had to ask the clerk for directions to the Convention center.
Sights along the way.

So I find my group and help out a bit. I wander back at 4pm. Now I can check in.

Before I left I checked the website and found a cheaper room. I called to inquire the difference. The clerk then said that the room I reserved was a deluxe king and would have a window while the special would be an interior room. The hotel was an old warehouse so this almost made sense. I kept my reservation for 2 reasons, one, Work was paying for the room this time and two, an interior room may make me crazy.

So back to check in. She hands me my key and I schlep my gear into the elevator and up a floor. I open the door and it is an interior room. Sorry Charlie, not going to do it.

I schlep back downstairs and inform them of the mistake. She gives me another room on the other side of the hotel.

I walk through the narrow hallways lined in brick and cinder block. I make my way to my new room. I open the door and yes I have windows. But I am on the first floor and I look right out on to the street so I need to keep the blinds drawn . :headache: Great I have windows but I cannot even use them because any and everybody walking by will be able to see in. The Joke is on me.

That would not be the last joke. I pick up the phone and nothing, no dial tone. At that point I just laugh. Add to that a key card that would deactivate every day. So I got i n the habit of just stopping at the desk every time I can in to redo my card.

That’s OK B arrives and her room is around the corner from mine. The first night her door won’t deadbolt shut. The metal plate is not right and she can’t throw the deadbolt. We get someone out to fix it and he was nice but tells us about the ghost in the hotel, Lucille. B had two doubles so she said Lucille could sleep in the other bed. I swear she no sleep during the trip because of Lucille.

I think I will stick to chains from now on and not book the “boutique” hotels. At least we had a continental breakfast in the AM. The hotel was booked with some tour group. Now before you get excited, it was a group of seniors. We were the youngest people around.

Before we had one of our social events, there was a parade.
These are board members on the float.

A little bit of POFQ

PA055886.jpg

On Friday we had some free time to take in the culture of New Orleans.
PA065887.jpg

Ok well, Maybe not. We walked to Bourbon street to watch some of the strangest sights I have seen.

Some other shert choices.;)

The heart is covering one a bit inappropriate.

PA065902.jpg

All in all, I can cross New Orleans off my list. We did Bourbon street during the day because we were a bit afraid to do it at night. The street was so narrow I felt I could not walk down without touching something icky by accident. We made sure we wore closed toed shoes to keep out feet clean.
We saw the devil and a bunch of others that would qualify as interesting characters.
I was once again glad to be going home.

I want to thank everyone for sticking with me and I do need to learn how to pace better to have one done before I go again.

Please join me for the next ride. I will post the link here when I am ready.

I am here but have some catching up to do. However, I love your New Orleans pictures. We love New Oreleans. It is such a beautiful town and some very interesting people.

We were there for a conference several years ago when Jeremy was little. It was pre Mardi Gra so we got to enjoy a lot of the parades. Jeremy would sit in his stroller and just watch. We came home and for the next month all he wanted to do was stand up in a chair and pretend he was on a float throwing beads down. :)

Hope you had a wonderful Christmas and especially good New Year in Disney! I can't wait to read all about it.

When is your next trip?

wow all caught up. Finally!
Great report. You are a go go go girl huh? lol

Hey why don't you put the antennae toppers on pencils in a bucket or cutesy disney pencil holder?

KIM

I have enjoyed following your trip report. I did love the New Orleans installment because that city has a place in my heart. It's where I married. Wouldn't want to live there, but I do love to visit. Did you get to sample any of the cuisine?

Thanks again and I look forward to following your next adventure!

Pat, thanks for the TR. I thoroughly enjoyed following along.

I've never been to New Orleans...it looks interesting.

Can't wait until the next TR.

Wow, i got so behind. My computer is about shot and selected you and a few others as it's enemies and every time I would try to catch up, it wouldn't show me pictures. So I decided I better read it on the laptop...and all caught up. Loved the trip. I hope you had a fabulous NYE trip too.

If you get a chance, could you add you AS Movies picture to the picture thread. I started a new one a few months ago, and not many people have posted there yet, but the old thread had all 3 resorts and was old and hard to find what you wanted.
Here's the link.

I always wish I had more time to explore. Bourbon sreet was a little nuts for me and it wasn't even Mardi Gras. I can only imagine how crazy it gets. I guess I was just not in that kind of mood that trip.

That's hysterical. The parade on the trade show floor was cheesy but fun. I think I like most when we have a venue to ourselves. Even better if it has water. We all have to be in our element. :lmao:

When is your next trip?

I did have a good Christmas and New Year. Next trip is scheduled for July 4th week. Right now booked at VWL but waitlisted for BCV or BWV. Now I have to get vacation approved.

wow all caught up. Finally!
Great report. You are a go go go girl huh? lol

Usually I am. This last trip it seemed like more wait , wait and more wait but it was super crowded.
Hey why don't you put the antennae toppers on pencils in a bucket or cutesy disney pencil holder?

That is a great idea.

We did eat out but I stuck to non creole items simply because everytime I try something new it seems to aggravate my allergies.

Pat, thanks for the TR. I thoroughly enjoyed following along.

It was interesting. Maybe too many drunks around since it was a big game weekend. Everyone should go once to see for yourself and the city itself was beautiful.

My computer like to give me fits too. The DIS and photobucket give me gray hairs as well.
