"Eat At Your Own Risk: Walt Disney World"

Well give some credit to that restaurant reviewer.
"Boss, I want to do something different for my restaurant health review segment for sweeps month".
"like what?"
"How about you pay for me to go down to Orlando and talk to the health inspectors about Walt disney World restaurants? Of course I'd also need park tickets so I can film the restaurants with lower ratings."
"Great! I'll write you a check."
So the reporter gets a free trip in the guise of an investigative report! We should all be so lucky!

I watched this report last night.
Basically, a few of the restaurants at WDW were keeping their food at unsafe temperatures. They were just trying to make Disney look bad.

In the millions of people they feed every day the reporter could only cite a few instances were people filed complaints. One was monetary so she couldn't be interviewed. I mean, it's a shame if it happens and I wouldn't want it to happen to me, but that report isn't changing the way I feel about eatting or going to Disney. I feel safer there than eatting anywhere else.

Hmmm...Six Flags is much closer and you can find all sorts of interesting stories on food there! :)

Actually, I thought the report said only 8 people reported food poisoning but nearly 1/2 of the restaurants at WDW had some type of violation.

It certainly didn't sound too terrible considering the amount of food served at WDW on any given day.

Did they happen to say what the violations were?

Probably 99% of the restaurants in my county have some violations. Do they really think there wouldn't be any?

Playing devils advocate here--Why shouldn't Disney be looked at?

I think we were wondering why a New York City TV crew felt the need to do the expose' on WDW. As everyone has said, I'm pretty sure they'd find a ton of infractions in their own back yard.

They do these exposes all the time. I think sometimes people feel like WDW is "untouchable" or something.

So, they wanted to do a special report and they chose WDW.

I, for one, thought it was very interesting. I am a Public Health major and I have taken several classes pertaining to food safety. I was interested in seeing what they found in the restaurants.

Keeping food stored at improper temperatures is one of the biggest reasons behind food-borne illness. Why Disney would have several restaurants that are keeping the food at improper temperatures is beyond me. They sure do charge a good deal of money for their food, you'd think they could afford better refrigeration.

The report did nothing to deter me from eating at WDW when I visit again, just made me a little more informed.

Actually they said 77 out of 155 inspected had a least one
."critical" violation
Some mentioned were, Cinderella's Castle, Brown Derby, Coral Reef.
Although they had only 8 complaints reported to the state that doesn't mean that's all the people who got sick.
Many people would only complain to Disney and many people wouldn't complain at all thinking they just had an upset stomach.

After getting very ill myself after eatting at the Brown Derby last year I called the restuarant right away to tell them so they could check the meat I had and was totally brushed off.

The news runs stories on anything or anybody who will bring in viewers. WDW is not exempt.
Although we all love WDW most people who have worked in restuarants will agree that many of them leave a lot to be desired in their kitchen cleanliness no matter where the restuarant is.
I try not to think about that when I go out to eat. lol

:hyper: :hyper:

I saw the KYW report too. why they did it, I don't know...maybe it has to do with competing with WPVI Ch. 6, who is an ABC station (and Disney owned).
