Trying to decide dinner tonight. Trying to pick between Artichoke and Spinach baked Cod with Buttered Snap Peas and Rice Pilaf or Orange Chicken Broccoli with Rice and Egg Rolls.

Either sounds sooooo good...minus the artichoke! :lmao:

I vote orange chicken broccoli! Do you make egg rolls or are they frozen??
I started making our own pork dumplings I would love to try an egg roll next.

Next group of meals I have planned:

tonight- spaghetti- mainly for me cause kids and husband are going to He and Me bowling with Girl Scouts and pizza will be served, but left over sauce frozen won't hurt

Sunday-we are going to our church family picnic, I signed up for coleslaw and bags of ice

otherwise, in no particular order:

tuna melts with sweet potato fries
bruschetta chicken bake (never tried, but saw it posted on this thread)
meatballs with peppers and pineapple served over rice (new recipe)
sloppy joes (leftovers from last time in freezer) and salad or something
Hungarian goulash and a veggie

Last day of school is Thursday 6/23 and I'm going to bring kids to Subway because they are always begging to go there and end of school is a good celebratory reason to bring them

I want to try and make egg rolls next time, but for this situation they will be frozen since I have some up there I need to use. We are really trying to clean the freezer out lol.

So, we did the orange chicken and broccoli... not so good. It was a weight watchers meal and SO bland. I even added things to it like garlic and red pepper flakes and it still had so little flavor. So disappointed.

Tomorrow will depend on the weather. Sunny, we will have the Steak 'em Up Pitas. Rainy, we will have the artichoke and Spinach Cod.

Well plans changed and we had pizza instead for dinner. My aunt called and wanted to know if we wanted to come over for pizza as she had a groupon she needed to use and it was too much pizza for just her. So I put the chicken and dumplings away and we will have them on Sunday.

It was pizza Groupon nite for me also. We had fried raviolis as a appetizer and pizza for the dinner. It was pretty good:thumbsup2

Friday is the end of a long week, so I will pick up a chicken at the deli on my way home. Not sure that is considerd eating out or not. I lean toward not, becuase it's the same cost as buying a chicken uncooked at the store...I just don't have time to cook it that day! :rotfl:

We were suppossed to go to our local Greek Festival for dinner tonight but my mom is mot feeling very good. We decided to go tomorrow instead. So tonight we are having the chicken and dumplings we were going to have tomorrow night.

If I wasn't trying to eat everything out of the freezer, I would be skipping the cooking tonight. Woke up with a fever and have had tummy problems since yesterday. I am feeling a bit better as the day goes on, but I have no energy at the moment. Really wish I could just skip cooking tonight... but I can't.

I really need to do a better job at making sure I have things for breakfast and lunches. I need to grab some more boxes of pasta salad (I use them as a base) because I can use that as a side all week. I just get bored so quickly with stuff and then I end up going to get something. Wish I could come up with some better lunches for myself (though I am making Chicken Tikka Masala or Butter Chicken one day next week with Naan bread). Maybe I will grab a couple packs of instant rice (not the best... but better then grabbing a burger).

Can I ask people here... what are some of your favorite breakfasts and lunches? Maybe you all can inspire me to make something.

Newbie cook here jumping on the bandwagon!

DH and I have been living on frozen chicken breasts and sandwiches for well.. a few years now and we decided it's time to make a change and start to learn how to cook!

I plan to start menu planning for next Saturday (this week we have a lot going on and are bidding adieu to our old ways).

I can't wait to be inspired by you all! Any good recipes or tips for new cooks are always appreciated!

YAY for you ! I am sahm, but I soo remember getting bored with lunch when I was working , running out to get something yummy was so easy, so I ended up ignoring my sandwich quite often.

I have no idea what to cook DH tonight. He is working today, been asking him all week what he wanted and got NOTHING from him . UGH. I guess Im off to hunt through cookbooks see if something inspires me.

I started planning lunches as well, my soon to be 12 yr old thinks summer vacation means 'mom feeds me all day" :sad2: I made fruit salad(thinking it was for the week) he had a couple friends over to swim and poof it was gone!

So lunch "stuff" for the week
Fruit salad...watermelon, grapes and whatever ever berries maybe on sale~
Pasta Salad...Macaroni shells, Italian dressing, cubed cheese, cubed pepperoni, ham, black olives and tomato's
some cold cuts for sandwiches and the old stand-by of mac n cheese

Dinners
Sunday- Wings its friend night and son and hubby are having friends over for a wrestling pay per view~
Monday- Ribs slow cooked on the grill w/baked potato's
Tuesday- Spaghetti & Garlic Bread
Wednesday- BBQ Chicken & chips
Thursday- Chicken Salads (with left over BBQ chicken)
Friday- Burgers & left-overs
Saturday-Picnic at a friends :goodvibes

Today we went to our local Greek Festival, Grandma treated, and I think i will not be hungry for awhile. There was so much yummy food.

The plan for the rest of the week is

Monday- Potato and Four Cheese Mini Pierogies with Salad
Tuesday- Spaghetti with turkey meaballs and garlic bread
Wednesday- Grilled Pork Chops with mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts
Thursday- Macaroni and cheese with a veggie
Friday- Corn Dogs with fries, I am babysitting for a friend and her daughter loves corn dogs so I make for her as a treat when she comes over
Saturday- Pulled pork sandwiches with roasted potatoes

Here is our menu for the next week and a half or so:

Monday - Slider hot dogs and baked beans

Tuesday - Chicken kabobs, salad and corn on the cob

Wednesday - Sloppy joes and tator tots

Thursday - Steaks, salad and baked potatoes

Friday - Burgers and pasta salad

Saturday - Nothing planned at this point. Will likely just be a snack night because DD and I have a bridal shower to go to in the afternoon.

Sunday - Grilled Chicken, rice a roni, fresh green beans, salad

Monday - Super nachos

Tuesday - Grilled ham and cheese sandwiches, chips or pasta salad

Wednesday - French toast and sausage

I'm REALLY REALLY shooting for no eating out between now and the next time we get paid. This last week was really hard, my work got robbed on Wednesday and I've been kind of out of it since and we ate out entirely too much as a result. I've had a chance re-group this weekend and I'm determined to get back on the "eating at home" bandwagon.
