Just some background -
Cast: Me - numerous trips to WDW, but never really eaten at any restaurants in Epcot, adventurous eater

DH - WDW newbie, his first trip, loves to eat, but tends to stick with the basics

DD16 - Another newbie, very picky eater, chicken fingers is her standard fare

DD - 13 2nd trip to the world, the 1st time she hated Epcot because she was so young, I think she will enjoy it this year, especially Japan as she is an anime freak! Oh, and she is an adventurous eater as well

DD - 11 2nd trip as well, same as above, except she eats like a bird, basically exists on chicken fingers, yogurt and ice cream.

My question is should we "eat around the world" or do a TS? I keep waffling on this. We will be using the dining plan. I love the thought of eating around the world, but am wondering if it will be too expensive for 5 people? :confused3 Also, I am wondering if a TS restaurant will be more accomodating for the different tastes in our family. I know, I know, I am overplanning, but hey, it kills time until I leave, right? TIA

Edit: We will be there during F&WF

My Dh and I did this on Saturday night. It was so much fun. I don't know if we would have done it with the rest of our family. I am going to write a review about it tonight with what we ate and prices if I can remember or find the receipts.

I definitely recommend F&WF eating around the world.
1.) You can try adventurous items
2.) Kids can always pick up chicken fingers or fries or a sandwich.
3.) They may be encouraged to take tastes of things that they normally wouldn't.
4.) You can get an idea of what the World Showcase Restaurants might serve in some cases to get a better idea of which TS might work for your family next time.
5.) Kids are not trapped into one type of food. They can't say they don't like anything when there are so many stalls to choose from!
6.) You spend 1-4 dollars a taste, so you can choose what items you want to spend your money on.
7.) You can order 2-4 samples for a light appetite or 8-10 for a large smorgasbord type meal!

You're there at a special time. Take advantage of it! :cloud9:

DH and I loved the Food and Wine Festival last year so much. We will be there the last week-end for it in November and I had it planned for one meal, but he wants to make it a couple of them. On that note, we also enjoy the restaurants, but I guess if you don't go often and have the time to spare mealwise and still try other sit-downs. I'd do the Food and Wine Festival. There's ALLOT of choices everywhere. At that time of year, unless it's Thanksgiving week or Jersey Week, I would think if you don't see anything you like, you could still get into one of the restaurants for lunch. Last October, we just walked up to the Rose and Crown for lunch and it was almost empty.

If you do eat around the world (we are!!) then you can save one TS Credit to apply to a signature dining - HoopDeDoo is popular hear, or you can do a character breakfast and a TS dinner on another day!!

But you should read the menus on allearsnet, and decide for yourself, but I know we will still sample the F&W totally!! Ok this does make us sound like gluttons!!

Do both! Go to Teppanyaki and split entrees (there is definitely enough to split); or go to Le Cellier and have the cheddar cheese soup, pretzel bread and a salad...something light. Then snack away!

We ate around the world in January. We would order 1-2 items and then all of us would share it. It was great and gave us a chance to try things we wouldn't normally try. Plus, if one of us didn't like the item, someone else did, and finished it up. Also, the larger eaters were able to eat more and the lighter eaters could just pick at it. Debby

That is kind of what I was thinking, I was thinking money wise as well, but like another poster said, can use the TS credits toward a signature meal. Thanks for the opinions guys!
