Easy video camera for kids.

My son loves to steal my cell phone and make videos with it. (Samsung Captivate). Great except that he is always running my battery down. For his birthday I am considering upgrading his ipod to a 4th gen. but wondered if there might be another option out there, maybe less expensive? When we are at the parks he loves to video the rides and fireworks and I do stress a bit about having to keep track of it. He also enjoys for me to video tape his piano lessons, playing with friends, going down slides...you get the picture. Then he will watch them on the way home.

Any ideas? It doesn't have to be great quality, he just likes to watch the clips.

Kodak Playsport. While they are not speficially geared towards kids, they simple to use and waterproof. They shoot in HD on SD cards. I think you can find one on Amazon or elsewhere online for about $100 - $129.

Flip Video cameras are pretty cool and cheap, I found one for $49 on clearance at Walmart a while back.

I would go with a Flip video as well! They don't cost a lot and your son will be able to record hours and hours of stuff.

My flip's screen is no smaller than my DD's ipod screen. It'll be fine for kids.

We bought my DS an inexpensive video camera a few years ago...not worth it at all. Audio is c-r-a-p-o-l-a. Video isn't so hot either. Spring for the flip. It really isn't that much anyway.
