easy site for vacation home search

I've used VRBO before, but it seems to be really slow lately and every home I check seems to be taken already (end of Feb - not peak season by any means!). Are there any rental home sites that have a search engine where you can enter your dates (and other parameters possibly) and it will send e-mails to the owners or pop up just homes avail on your dates?

We need a smaller home (just a family of 3) but we do not want a townhome - we want our own pool etc

ETA - we've stayed at Emerald Island before and really liked it, but we're open to other GATED communities near WDW

Encantada is very new has townhouses with splash pools and 4 bedroom townhouses with larger pools. It's located in the same general area as Em Is.
You can find listings on vrbo and other sites.
