EASY Mardi Gras- New Orleans inspired meal suggestions?

Not sure if anyone ever goes to the family boards here but they have a thread called Disney movie nights and you watch with your family a disney movie and that is the theme for the night. We are doing 2 a month til our Aug Disney trip. We also do a craft or a game centered around the theme.
So we are between Alice and Wonderland and Princess and the Frog for our next movie night. Anyone have any suggestions for EaSY New Orelans, Mardi Gras type of meals? We are not big into fish though and have a peanut allergy! Thanks!

Thanks for the sweet roll recipe, do they really mean cinnamon rolls though? I'd like to try that, was going to attempt binets, but this seems easier and I think we would enjoy it more.

And I think I may have to try the red beans and rice. DD is so picky though (ugh!) I hope she likes it, I know me and DF will.

Yes, they really mean the canned Pillsbury-like cinnamon rolls - it is super fun and easy!!

My kids love red beans and rice, and with smoked sausage from store it is a great dinner. The Zatarans boxed stuff is pretty good for a wide range tastes.

Sausage and cornbread would be another good meal.

you could attempt a sausage and chicken gumbo.

there's also etouffee.

does shrimp count as fish to you? we love fried shrimp po-boys.

BBQ shrimp and grits is another fave.

sloppy roast beef po-boys too...dressed!
