Easy make from scratch Cinnamon Roll recipe??

If you have a bread machine (one that does dough and bakes), I have a great recipe. Using your book that came with the machine, make the large batch of sweet dough. It's the recipe that usually has more sugar than normal in it. Once the dough has gone through it's cycle (it will probably beep at you to let you know it's done), turn it out onto a floured surface and roll into a large rectangle. Smear it with an entire stick of room temperature butter (Paula Deen is my hero!) and then sprinkle it with LOTS of cinnamon and sugar. I usually also sprinkle it with pecans, too, much to the disgust of my nut-hating brothers. Roll it up tight, and slice into segments about 1" thick. Place the slices into a Pam-sprayed glass pan (at least 13"x9" if not larger), and let raise until double.

Bake at 350 degrees. I usually bake uncovered for about 15 minutes, and then another 5 with aluminum foil on top (covered loosely) so it doesn't get too brown.

Take them out of the oven and let them sit about 5 minutes. Spread an entire can of cream cheese frosting on top.

Yum!

If you don't have a breadmaker, I'm afraid I'm not of much help. Unless, of course, you have a Cinnabon close by, which would be my second suggestion for "making" easy cinnamon rolls!

Good luck!

My version of "from scratch" cinnamon rolls uses the rolls in a can. You have to scratch the end of the paper to get the tube open don't you? ;)

Yeah go get a can of Pillsbury cinnamon rolls.

1) Peel off the lable.
2) Hit the can on the countertop thus breaking it open.
3) Put rolls on a pizza pan.
4) Cook for 15-20 minutes at 400 degrees.
5) Put icing on while hot.

Nah--I really like baking and could bake just about anything if I had a recipe (cooking and me, though, don't really get along so much).

I found something in my Fannie Farmer cook book--though not quite what I was looking for.

So it ends up it is not a hard thing to make (at least for me anyway)---just now need to find a recipe that is good and that one just didn't fit the bill.

I do a version of easy miniature cinnamon rolls using pillsbury crescent rolls. Take one package of rolls and open into one piece of rectangular dough. Press seams. Soften 2 Tablespoons of butter and spread on the dough. Sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar (I buy a grocery store brand that's already mixed!). Roll up dough from the long end. Cut into small pieces. Place in a greased cake pan. Bake for approximately 20 minutes until browned. Take 1/3 cup of powdered sugar and mix a small amount of milk until of pouring consistency. Pour onto rolls as soon as remove from oven. Eat right away while warm. My DS loves these rolls!

From Better Homes & Gardens:

I've been making these for Christmas'es forever and they are always a big hit!

4 to 4 1/2 cups flour
1 pkg active dry yeast
1 cup milk
1/3 cup sugar
1/3 ccup butter or margerine (I use butter)
1/2 tsp salt
2 eggs

In a large bowl combine 2 cups of the flour and the yeast; set aside.
In small saucepan heat and stir milk,sugar,1/3 cup butter and salt until warm and butter almost melts: add to flour mixture along with the eggs. Beat with an electric mixer on low to medium speed for 30 seconds, scraping bowl. Beat on high speed for 3 minutes. Using a wooden spoon, stir as much of the remaining flour in that you can.

Turn dough out onto a floured surface. Knead in enough remaining flour to make a soft dough that is smooth and elastic. Shape dough into ball. Place dough into a greased bowl, turning once to grease surface of the dough. Cover and let rise in warm place until doubled in size. (about an hour)

Punch dough down, turn onto lightly floured surface. Divide in half. Cover and let rest 10 mins.
Roll out each dough half into a 12 X 8 rectangle. Spread a stick of room temp butter on dough and sprinkle cinnamon and sugar on top of butter. I also sprinkle in some brown sugar as well as being fairly generous with the cinnamon. Roll up dough and cut into 1" slices and place in greased 13x9 pan. Cover with a sheet of wax paper and a warm kitchen towel let rise for 30 minutes.

Heat oven to 375º. Bake 20 minutes or until golden. Spread with vanilla icing or cream cheese icing.

My family's traditional easy recipe for cinnamon rolls:

1. Get in the car
2. Travel to local mall
3. Get out of car
4. Enter mall
5. Locate mall directory (note: you may skip steps 5, 6 & 8 if this is not your first time using this recipe)
6. Find location of Cinnabon within mall
7. Travel at high speed to Cinnabon store. Do not stop at any other stores, carousels, trains, or kiosks. Not even the Disney Store.
8. Carefully look at the menu
9. Place order
10. Purchase order. Do not forget the extra cup of icing!
11. Enjoy hot, fresh, warm cinnamon rolls
12. If desired, purchase extra cinnamon rolls. These may be reheated upon returning home. This is especially useful if you want to get that "baked at home" feeling.

Hey you cook from scratch like I do. :rotfl2:

Actually I make cinnamon rolls from the canned rolls quite often. I use regular biscuts .The trick is to load the bottom of the pan with butter or margarine. AND I DO MEAN LOAD! Sprinkle some brown sugar and cinnamon on top. Put a small pat of butter on top of each of them. CAUTION! this recipe is not for the heart healthy. :lmao: I separate them a little (they seem to cook better this way) Bake according to package. They sometimes take a bit longer depending on the oven itself. The bottoms will get a little crust on them -this is a good thing.

I make the icing either by combining powdered sugar and water to make a glaze or if you are really in a lazy mood. Thin a bit of canned icing by microwaving it till runny.(you may have to add a bit of water depending on brand)

Very yummy and now darn it anyway I want to go make some NOW :rotfl:

I do something similar--but easier. It's delicious too!

1 pkg of frozen dinner rolls
1/2 c. butter, melted
1/2 c. brown sugar
2 T cinnamon
2 T. sugar
1/3 pkg. butterscotch pudding--not instant

Place frozen rolls in a bundt pan and mix remaining ingredients together and pour over the frozen rolls. Cover with a damp cloth and let sit overnight in a warm place. Bake 350 for 25-35 min. Remove from pan promptly.

If you like, mix together powdered sugar and water to drizzle over the warm rolls.
