I know this is an "age old" question here but I need to ask it anyway. I know people have different preferences for many different reasons. We are hoping to cruise DCL summer 2006 for our first ever cruise and our dks will be 9 and 12 at that time. So with that information I just wondered what the opinions out there would be. We certainly hope this won't be our one and only Disney Cruise but where should we begin?? This board is great and I appreciate your advice and wisdom here. I love to read the posts and get so excited about cruising!!

Why I love the Western: Grand Cayman and the stingrays. I can take/leave the other ports, but this one can't be beat.

Why I love the Eastern: St. Thomas/St. John. We did a private daysail and it was FABULOUS.

To me, it really boils down to what you want to do while OFF the ship and whether or not you want that extra sea day.

This year we're doing Western again but only plan to get off the ship in Grand Cayman (maybe, if we go there due to the damage) and Castaway Cay. We're looking forward to being on the ship in Key West/Cozumel when most others get off!

For our first ever, the stingrays won out so we did the Western and were not disappointed a bit.

Our first 7-night Disney cruise (have been on the 4-night before) was the Apr. 24 Western. We're booked next month for the Nov. 6 Western.

We chose the Western because we all wanted to visit Key West. We could easily drive down there for a few days but somehow never did. Also, our daughter wanted to visit Cozumel ( hubby and I were there several years ago).

Whichever destination you choose, it is sure to be a winner! Check out the different ports of each and what is offered in the way of excursions or trips on your own.

It will be here before you know it. Happy planning. ::yes:: :hyper:
