I have a 5 and 7 year old.
My first question is what nights do the kids have special events in the oceaneer's club? Did they interfere with good shows? (We have early dinner)
Is the St Maartin dolphin encounter excursion ok for that age group?
What would be the calmest/shallow water for snorkeling for that age group?
Any other tips would be greatly appreciated!!:bounce:

Hi Tami, welcome to the DIS!

If you check Dave's DCL Tribute site, there is a page that has copies of the kid's navigator's. That should give you an idea of what they have scheduled when for the kids.

Not sure about the dolphin encounter, this will be our first trip to St.Maartin too.

On St.Thomas, we went to Coki beach. The water was great and there was pretty good snorkeling to the right side of the beach, toward Coral World.

Hi Tylerandalliesmom!

We went on the Eastern on Spring Break. My kids were 5 and 9 at the time. Yes, the dolphin encounter is good for their ages. My DD (5 at the time) didn't want to go in with the stingrays but she did everything else. They have a hermit crab race that the kids enjoyed. The beach is nice at Coki (1/2 of the day). They have chairs and shade. You can rent floats for $5 a piece. Just be aware of the $ for the pictures with the dolphins. They wanted $30 for each person! Maybe coordinate with someone else in your group to take turns taking pictures while you are in the water. Be sure to book this one on the 60-day mark (or is it now 90-days?) as it fills up fast!

Didn't snorkle so I don't know much about that. My kids did miss some fun activities in the club/lab due to the shows (we had early seating too). They also enjoy the shows so no big deal.

Enjoy!

We went on the 9/18 sailing, special Eastern itinerary. Wednesday night was the Goofy's Pajama Party in the Club. My understanding is that this is the same on the regular Eastern itinerary as well. It was a perfect night for us to go to Palo's as well.
Tuesday night was the Pirates in the Caribbean night. Our 5 year old danced the night away up on deck.

Tami: I seem to remember seeing somewhere that they have a matinee show. This will be our first cruise so I could be wrong. If I'm right you could see that show, feed the kids at the buffet with the club and then let them go to the club activity. Did I get that right all you DIS pros ?

We did the Dolphin encounter with Umterp and her family. GREAT TIME!! DD & DS are still telling others about their time with Al (male dolphin). DD was 9 and DS was 6. Be sure to bring lots of sunscreen. DD & DS got burnt even though they had on SPF 30 and had it reapplied several times. The beach in Anguilla was beautiful. We rented floats for $5 from some locals. The surf was gentle and the prettiest shades of blue and green. The buffet lunch was adequate, though you should be at the front of the line. They ran out of food and we had to wait for more to be made. The cost of the pictures of the dolphin swim were a bit pricy, but we couldn't go home without them. Enjoy.

We had late seating and were able to make most of the shows. DS & DH won $ 125 on Mouseketeer. DS didn't go back to the club in the evening until the last night and then he didn't want to leave.

Enjoy!

Hi Umterp! Say hi to jim for us

Most night DS wanted to go to the club early so when we sat down at early dinner we told our servers & they brought his dinner right out. He was eating desert when we had our second course and I took him to the club before our entrees were brought out. That would give him at least an hour to be in the club if he wanted to see a show with you & you could enjoy a quiet meal.
