Eastern Caribbean Fantasy Oct. 5, 2013

We're back from our first vacation in 2013. Our return flight from Fuerteventura was delayed by more than an hour, which resulted in an arrival time of 1115pm in Frankfurt. We were afraid that this would lead to a diversion to Nuremberg or Stuttgart as Frankfurt has a curfew of 11pm, but we our flight was fortunately granted a Special permission.
We had to wait 25 minutes for our bags, but were back home shortly after midnight. I had arranged for a limo to pick us up at the Airport and our Driver was waiting right next to the gate.

The vacation was awesome. We met a lot of people who had been there last year, too, and we also met a lot of new friends from all over Germany, Switzerland and Austria.

As the cooking there is very good we compensated for all the feasting by attending 41 classes at the gym in 13 days. The first two days we did one in the morning and three in afternoon and then we switched to just three in the afternoon as most mornings we had massages of 1hour each at the spa racking up a hefty bill ;)

We did Zumba five times, five sessions with barbells, five with the flexi-bar and many, many more. We even had the opportunity of a couple of personal trainings with the head of their fitness department. That was especially funny as this guy is from the Frankfurt area and so we had a lot to talk about - and we tried to 'kill' each other by really racking up those weights. Two times we managed to work out so hard that we and the trainer really suffered the next day, but the massage took care of that: 'Pain is weakness leaving the body' :thumbsup2

In the evenings we watched a show on one of their stages and usually had a few yummy cocktails. My record was six on one evening, but I suffered for that the next day and didn't drink any then ;) On the other nights my limit was three or sometimes even just two. Now it's back to no alcohol until the cruise.

Our next vacation will be the last week of June, but we haven't any firm plans yet for that. We'll either make day trips in the area or perhaps fly to Hamburg, Munich or London for a few days - we'll see.

We are so excited we just started making our FE gifts. :cheer2:
Do we know if we are splitting the rooms or are we doing all of them, just so I know how many to make.
And it is important to know girl or boy and ages on the FE list because we are trying to make them a little more personal.

Looking at the poll on the group page, I can make a safe guess that we will have at least 2 FE break out groups.
The votes are neck and neck for us to keep sub groups between 20 - 30 or 30 - 40.
It is safe to say that a majority do not want to see the number any one cabin has to plan to share FE's with at more than 40.

Personally 40 is the number we have been preping for. If the sub group ends up smaller, then we can surprise either a few in the other sub group, or some special cast members.

I would like to hear how everyone else weighs in on this, so we can close the polls and finalize this query.

Tink,
please remove us from the FE-list. We just realized that it would be a logistic problem for us. Some weeks ago I stated that we wouldn't have a problem taking our gifts to the US as we usually have a lot of room in our luggage
- that's still true.
But I forgot that we usually don't have any space left in our luggage on the way home due to all the shopping we always do. It's always a tight fit and so we wouldn't have any room for the FE-gifts we'd get.

Sorry about that.

Sorry to hear you will not be participating. Always excited to meet new people through the FE exchange.

You'll meet us nevertheless - we're on the same ship and I hope that there will be more group activities than just the FE.

We need room for three weeks worth of clothes as we don't do laundry while on vacation and with today's small baggage allowance that requires smart packing ;)
As stated before we always do a lot of shopping in the US and so we don't have much room for anything else on the way home.

NOW...37 confirmed and counting.....

And just a reminder, if you are not on this list and want to be, just let me know. We don't want to leave anyone out that wants to share in the fun of FE gifts __________________

I'm sorry you can not join in the fun, but I do understand luggage limits. We are planning on flying Spirit, so anything beyond carry on costs almost as much as a seat.

I am curious though, will you have room for a small personal gift or two. I have a plan for something special for you.

DH and I will be joining you on this cruise! :wave2: It will be our 14th Disney cruise and will complete our "Grand Slam" goal of sailing on all four ships! Woohoo! This will be our first Caribbean itinerary. I'm really looking forward to experiencing the "crazy plane beach"! :)

I've finally caught up on all the previous posts. Whew, that was a LOT of reading! :coffee: As usual, it's a small world - we have a lot in common with many of you! We're originally from Indianapolis (hi 2crazegoofies), and have vacationed in Australia (hi ozdisneyfan and Sims11), the UK (hi Mrs Stevenson), and Germany (hi Viking), as well as most of the states represented by fellow cruisers! We've made many friends on our previous cruises and are looking forward to meeting all of you, too!

Tink, please sign us up for the FE exchange. It will be the first cruise where I didn't coordinate it. I know how time-consuming organizing it can be, so I'd like to say "three cheers!" to you for all of your hard work on this one! :thumbsup2

Counting down the days.....

Welcome Deb T
:welcome::welcome::welcome::welcome:
We are excited to have such a veteran cruiser.

Also, thanks for the encouragement...:goodvibes

I will edit post 547 and add you to the FE, I will also shoot you a PM with an invite to our group page. Please come and join in the conversations there as well. Once you log in, you will find an address book, an editable FE (please fill in all your info), some polls about our FE, and group shirts, and group meets (including one for the crazy plane beach).

Once again welcome.

Sure, Tink - and of course I'll bring something from Germany for all the work you do here.

Remove me please...conflicting family obligations have caused us to cancel

Just found this...will be going on this cruise. It'll be my 9th, and my girlfriend's first.

So excited!

Will the 2 of you want to participate in our FE exchange
(if so, just let us know, and we will add you to the list)

Also, I will be sending you a PM shortly with an invite to our group page.
I look forward to getting to know you.

Oh, what part of Texas are you from?

We're in DFW...Arlington.

We are in the Heart of Texas....
New Braunfels:cloud9:

You said DFW, are y'all on lay over at the Airport, or living in the vicinity?

If y'all are living in Texas, we are putting together a meet for those of us living in Texas prior to the cruise. Also, I am designing shirts for the Texans to wear one day (Team Texas :cheer2:)

LOL...we were just there...well Austin, last weekend, for Sea World.

Yes, we live here in Arlington, about 4 hours from you.

So, are you interested in being part of team Texas?
and in a pre cruise meet?

We just may be up that way in July to catch a flight to Denver. Depends on where the owner of my Hubbies company wants to fly us out of ( Dallas or Austin).

We also enjoy coming up to the Great Wolf Lodge:thumbsup2
