Eastern Caribbean Fantasy Oct. 5, 2013

Hi Roxy,
enjoy WDW. We were at EPCOT during the Food & Wine Festival in 2010 and loved it.
You were in the wrong year for the cruise only, we'll be on Treasure Island, FL this year. But we won't go near any parks this time. We just want to enjoy the beach, so we will not drive over to Orlando and neither go to Busch Gardens.
It will be my 20th trip to the USA and my wife's 15th, respectively our 13th and 12th trip to Florida.

Thank you - Enjoy your trip to sunny Florida : ) We visit florida at least 2 or 3 times a year. Would love to visit Germany some time! We've been to Italy - to visit family. Would love to take my kids - I love Europe. :love:

Roxy,
We love to travel to Florida too.
When oldest DS goes to college in Winter Park when we get home from this cruise, we will have even more reasons to visit (as if A giant Mouse is not enough :smickey:)
Actually, as soon as we are done homeschooling ( laws in Florida for Homeschooling are not as friendly as they are in Texas), we hope to move out there. I would say retire, but not really. We would like to work at least seasonally in the middle of the Magic (Oh to be the Tinkerbell :tink: flying at the start of the fireworks....I would be in heaven).

We are thinking about a possible surprise trip to California Disney at the end of the summer (youngest DS gets a trip to a water park called Schlitterbahn at the coast every year for his b-day. This year, we think we may be able to surprise him with a Disney trip instead:ssst::cake:). If anyone is going to be out that way, we would love to meet up:banana:

You have a DS in college?! We will be on a college road trip next month - my DS will be starting college next year. What will your DS be studying? Maybe they can connect via DISboards - its alway great to have disney friends :cool1:

Are you on my PC list? PM yours address & I will send you a PC from WDW!

Hey, just wanting to let everyone know I made up a FE info/ questions answered on our group site pixiehallow created. Check it out!

Hurray!!! Hurray!!:cool1:

We officially have a name...

Genie's Magic Carpet Tours:genie:

:thanks: A big thanks to everyone for getting involved and voting :thanks:

I do apologize for the sluggishness :snail: of the decision though. As we would say around our house, ' I was moving at a Snurtles pace' (one of my made up words which was a result of my brain working faster than my mouth when I was trying to say turtle and snail in the same sentence).

If during our decision making you choose to join the IAGO yahoo groups, do not fret. I will keep both groups up. I will also make sure to share items across both groups so that nothing is missed.

So....let me be the first to welcome everyone to 'Genie's Magic Carpet Tours' group. I look forward to sailing:boat: in to great friendships with you (some of which are already well under way).

:welcome: :welcome: :welcome:

Roxy~

I will send you a link to the group you have joined.

If anyone else has lost their link, just let me know. Or if you need a new invite sent, I can do that as well.

I would just prefer not to post the group link someplace that 'anyone' (group member or not) can access it (you know keeping it private and all:cool2:).

I believe that the FE post that TiggerB is talking about can be found in the message section on the Yahoo Group.
On the "Genie" page the post is titled -FE Information- and was posted by theback.......
On the "IAGO" page the post is titled - Updated info and Wonderful tips and pointers from TiggerB- and was posted by pixiehal......

I hope this helps
~Tink~

Should we at some point merge it?

Hi Everyone!

Here is some info/corrections regarding the whole FE ...

1) It is NOT necessarily giving in secret... This is up to EACH person as to how they want to do it ~ unknown (secretly); w/ name used on Dis boards (ex: tiggerb); known w/ Dis name and real name (you can choose just first name, last name , or both). Often, it sounds like people will also put their town &/state (or country ).

2) There is not a price limit on it... it is up to each person to decide what their limit is.

3) The gifts/treats can be homemade and crafty; store-bought (if food--- must be store bought for customs); cheap and inexpensive; something representing your town, state or country; or more. The sky is the limit for ideas and such....

4) You as the giver can decide if you would like to give one gift /cabin
(or family- even if in more than one cabin) or a gift for each family member in each cabin.

5) You deliver the gifts usually just once during the cruise (yet I have read some deliver a few times ) so that it does not feel like a MUST and takes time from you enjoying the cruise yourself.
(just if it is specific for something happening on the cruise ~ ex: Pirate Night and you have pirate trinkets/related items, you will want to deliver them anytime before Pirate Night Day so they may be used and enjoyed.)

6) There is usually a SPECIFIC date for a cut-off date (many say 75-90 days out from cruise date) so you know how many have joined. Yet, some groups allow others to join in later, as long as the person(s) understand they may not get gifts from EVERYONE on the FE list ~ as people may choose to give to only those who joined by the cut-off date.

7) SOME, but not all FE groups may split off into smaller groups if the
numbers get too large. ( I have heard of cruises w/ 50+ to over 100+ cabins
participating --- I know I could never afford to give to that many cabins).

8) You can opt out, but as courtesy to others, the sooner the better as some people make personalized gifts/treat bags.

9) Sometimes, the DISboard cruise link members meet on the first day or so for about an 1 hour to introduce themselves and meet, give any room # changes, etc. I have read where a few people actually give out their FE gifts then ~

10) This is meant to be FUN and EXTRA PIXIE DUST & MAGIC for all involved, NOT added STRESS !

Oh, and 11) I have heard people get their FE gifts onboard via shipping a box (specific size limit) ahead of time, pack them on their carry-ons, or some have used a suitcase/duffel bag for them and then have the room for all those recieved and souveniers.

OK... now I am done. Any questions, feel free to post or ask.

At some point we probably should, but no rush.:rolleyes1

For those of you who joined IAGO, and not Genie's Magic.....
you can join Genie's group at your own leisure.
If you need a new invite, just drop me a line.

And TiggerB thanks for the Hugs, they are always well received and appreciated:goodvibes

As we talked about the Stephanie Plum-novels and the movie some time ago:
We got the BluRay yesterday. It's not available in Germany yet as 'One for the Money' is still running in the cinemas, but in the United Kingdom the official release date was 7/2 and so I had it sent from there.
We liked the movie. It's very close to the books and the cast is great, even though I would have loved to see more of Debbie Reynolds as Grandma Mazur ;)
We also received the 3D BluRay of 'Hugo Cabret' and will watch it later this week. The German version will not be released before 8/16.

Alles Gute zum Unabhängigkeitstag!!
Happy Fourth of July to Y'all!! :cheer2::cheer2:

Alles Gute zum Unabhängigkeitstag!!
Happy Fourth of July to Y'all!! :cheer2::cheer2:

Erik,
Thank you for the special greeting:goodvibes

When I saw it Wednesday Morning, I told youngest DS that we had gotten a special message from you. I then proceeded to try to read it to him.
I have to say, I sounded hilarious trying to sound out Unabhangigkeitstag:rotfl2:
DS looked at me, laughed, and said this is going to be a fun year (refering to our German lessons)
Pronunciation is going to be our biggest hurdle:scared:

Howdy everyone:wave2:
I am sorry I have been absent from chatter for a time (well except for the post just before this one :lmao:)

As those of you on the Yahoo group may have noticed, the application section has been removed for now. It was a Beta version, and is supposed to return later.
The good news is I did have a heads up about loosing the address book and individual profiles (but not the live chat room). So, I was able to back up all of the wonderful info everyone posted. I am going to try to put it into a file on the group, so we can all still have access until the application returns.
By the way, thank you to everyone that has already added to the address book. I hope to have something where we can all add our address to up soon.
Especially before the holidays, so that those of us who send cards or holiday news letters can add our new friends to our mailing list:grouphug:
I will keep everyone up to date.(I promise;))

Okay,
I put together an address book on the Genie's yahoo page.
It is under the database link in the side bar.
The title is 'Genie's Magic Carpet Tours Address Book '

If you previously posted to the yahoo groups address book, please go by the group page and make sure I transferred the information correctly.:scared:

If you have not posted to the address book yet, please:bitelip:
stop by the Genie's page and add your info.

;)

Pronunciation is going to be our biggest hurdle:scared:

You're welcome - but it's EriC.
Even though the regular spelling in Germany is with a 'k', my parents chose the English version to make a statement ;)

To write the Umlaut vowels ä, ö, ü with an American keyboard you have to hold down the ALT-key and type the following numbers on the numeric keypad:
ä = 132
ö = 148
ü = 129
Ä = 196
Ö = 214
Ü = 220

When it comes to pronunciation I have to say that even hough it appears difficult in the beginning it is more logical than in English. But it becomes really funny when you learn correct German pronunciation and then travel to an area where people use a heavy local accent, i.e Bavaria. My wife is from the coast, way up north, and she doesn't even understand a Bavarian speaking his local slang :rotfl2:
It's worse than Southern drawl or the accent they speak in some areas of New England, ie. Cap Cod or a full-fledged Texan accent ;)

Sorry for the misspell Eric.
And as always, thanks for the pointers.

The good news is, I only have a southern Texas draw when I'm really tired :rotfl2:

Me and my fiancé are taking this cruise for our honeymoon!
It's our first cruise!

We're definitely interested in the FE's.
I've heard so much about them, and we're so excited to use them!
