Easter

Not much.

There are a couple of Easter Egg hunts at one or two of the WDW resorts.

Guests can meet with Mr. & Mrs. Easter Bunny in MK.
Those two characters and a few costumed dancers also walk by in a very brief "pre-parade" just before the start of the regular "3:00 Parade" at MK.

There are candy scrambles at Epcot and at the Deluxe resorts. Epcot also has an egg hunt throughout the World Showcase, and the Contemporary has a chocolate egg display.

Grand Floridian has some really cool Easter eggs decorated with Disney themes. Google for photos, they're amazing!

They up charge for dining....

We have been a few times during Easter, it's a great time of year to go. They have the best looking Easter bunny . Candy scrambles that are tons of fun !! Only at moderate hotels and up. Mickey, Minnie and goofy arrive dressed in their Easter best. Other than that really not to much and it's not advertised to heavily. I do remember a special parade ( short and small) down Main Street . I usually try and stay out of the parks that day. Candy scramble , off property meal and use the resort pool.

We were at WL last easter. They had the candy scramble in the morning (several areas divided by age). Mrs. Bunny was there for pictures as well as Mickey and Minnie all dressed up. Minnie even helped my youngest collect candy during the scramble.

My kids enjoyed the easter egg hunt throughout world showcase. You can buy a map for I think $5 bucks. You go through world showcase matching the egg with the country. Once completed you can go back to the gift shop to get a "prize," which was a disney character plastic egg.

We met MR and MRs. Bunny at MK.

We also went to the Contemporary and GF to see the Chocolate Easter Eggs, which were awesome!

I'm not sure if all resorts do this, but the WL, we were able to put together an Easter baskets for the kids (I think $7 for the basket then the cost of whatever you wanted to put in it). THe resort gift shop put the baskets together, held them for us, then delivered them easter morning. The left them at our door, knocked, and ran down the hall to hide from the kids (but to make sure we got the baskets) so they would think they just arrived at the door.

There definitely was a hunt of some sort at OKW last year.
The map thing in Epcot sold out before Easter day, IIRC. But there was an egg hunt in England back in the hedge maze.

Some of the resorts and restaurants offer Easter brunch too. And there are Easter Sunday services at..the Contemporary, I think?

I've never been, just researched it because we'll be there this Easter. I'm looking forward to the little Easter pre-parade in the MK (I've heard they run FoF twice during this time with the Easter pre-parade each time, but not sure if that'll be the case this year), seeing Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, etc. all decked out in their Easter Sunday finest, possibly swinging by the Grand Floridian (and Contemporary?) to see the chocolate eggs on display, and though we won't actually purchase a map and officially do the "Egg-stravaganza" in Epcot, we'll probably hit the World Showcase that day to stroll around and see the gardens and flowers. I think the Easter Bunny is in the UK too? Seems like I might have read that somewhere.

So, not a big to-do like Halloween and Christmas, but it still a few little extras that will make the day "Eastery". :)

We bought our map on Good Friday. I was worried about them being sold out because I read that they do sell out.

What is the map thing at Epcot?

There are some things to do at Easter but you have to go looking for them, they aren't promoted.

There is Easter Mass at the Contemporary I am pretty sure it is at 8AM but it may change. They will run the buses early and some will go directly there.

My Easter 2014 is memorable because, although we were first at the bus stop at BC to head over to the Contemporary on Easter, however, late comers cut between myself and my family and I turn around and there is my family standing at the bus stop as I am on the bus riding solo. They are teenagers and thought it was funny. Especially since I got to the Contemporary AFTER they did. :confused3 The families were so rude on the bus. We got back to BC a little around 9:30 and by that time there was someone from transportation lining people up and helping them fold strollers. How shocked people are that they needed to be folded. I think my first SUV was smaller than some of those! Amazing that people need to be told first to the stop, first on the bus and last to the stop, last on the bus. I just always did that. Gotta set a good example for the kids.

The crowds are a 10 out of 10.:crowded:

Each country in the world showcase "hides" an easter egg painted like a disney character. The eggs are huge and aren't terribly difficult to find. You can purchase a map at one of the gift shops and it comes with stickers of each egg. As you go through world showcase, you match each sticker with each country. When you are done, you can return to the gift shop to get your prize. Last year ours was a disney character plastic easter egg. I don't know if that varies since last year was our first Easter trip. It's not anything spectacular, but the kids had fun doing it and the map and egg were fun Easter souvenirs to bring home. And DH and I were able to try the food and drinks at the F&G booths around world showcase!

Before our trip last year, I had read about the maps selling out. We went on Good Friday and they still had maps.

We went back to Epcot two days after Easter and the eggs were gone. They didn't waste any time taking them down!
