Been watching airfares for a while and they remain sky high for the week leading into Easter. So much higher than any other time I've flown to FLA. Don't have much flexibility or time as it is a short trip to watch DS's marching band at MK.

If you are going then....Are you waiting in hopes there is a brief window of lower fares? Have you already purchased? If so please share your fare if you don't mind.

I am looking at $450-$700 per person right now depending on airline, stops, time of day for Detroit to Orlando. :headache:

Thanks!

I've already purchased our tickets for the week before Easter out of Milwaukee. We are using Frontier Airlines and got them at $330 each for a family of 5. I bought them though back when the tickets initially went on sale. If you can, try flying out on a Thursday as I've found tickets cheaper. Good luck!!

You might want to check Allegiant out of Toledo, Grand Rapids, Saginaw. There are a few good fares especially if you fly into one city and return from another.

I'd be happy with $330! Good for you. :goodvibes We couldn't buy much earlier because we weren't sure if this band trip was for sure happening or not. I see that fares are cheaper if we can adjust our days but we just don't have the flexibility to leave earlier (Thursday) unfortunately.

Great tip you're right the prices are better but there is no flight available the day we return :sad2: flying out of Toledo. Not sure we want to do the extra time/driving required to fly out of GR or Saginaw but thanks for the idea.

I don't know if this will help you as I fly out of Milwaukee, but the last 2 years I have gotten decent prices on Easter flights on Christmas morning.

That being said, I still check every day. It is an expensive time to go to Florida, however I work for the school district so it works out the best for me. We tried early June once and were dying in the heat. Must be our "up north" body thermastat! LOL!

The best advice is if you find a price you can live with...book it. Especially if flying southwest or airtran because they have great policies on rebooking at lower rate.

Good luck!

one more thing...if you are renting a car BOOK IT NOW! The rates go sky high the closer you get to Easter and it is sometimes difficult to get a economy or midsize rental at that time of year. You can always rebook if you find a code for a lower price.

Thank you, I have a Kayak alert I check every morning and will be sure to check Christmas morning! :santa: I know it won't be as low as we have flown before but I'm struggling with $500 + flights. However I just couldn't miss seeing DS and all his band buddies marching down Main St. USA!

We are not planning on renting a car as we are staying at the Dolphin and will use WDW transportation and will take a town car or shuttle from the airport.

Thanks again!

I got ours a few months ago with Direct Air. We fly out of Kalamazoo, so no long drive to Detroit. We fly into Sanford, but got a good deal on the rental car. Our flights were $185 pp round trip (non-stop):)

Our spring break isn't Easter week but the rates are still sky high. I booked over a month ago with Southwest at $300 pp for flights with a stop (we normally pay about $200). They had a black friday sale yesterday and I was able to change our outbound flight to a nonstop but the return is still sky high ($550 - $600 pp)! I watch every day - good luck. Ditto on the rental car! Book it now since you can always cancel.

Hey OP...just had another idea for you. Southwest is still offering 2 free flights with their VISA credit card. $69 annual fee but you only have to make one purchase and the points show up in 6-8 weeks.

We just got our cards today.
