Easter Reservations????

Hi everyone, we are just in the process of purchasing DVC points at SSR and I was wondering if anyone has had any problems getting reservations for the time they wanted in high season? We would have to travel over the Easter break and I am wondering if we would even get a room if we book any less than 11 mths out! Comments or hints please.

At 11 months you should always find something available at your home resort. If you are buying through Disney, your points should be available for use almost immediately, so you will have time to book Easter at SSR for next year. Even if you are buying resale, you should close in time for making reservations for next Easter (but you'll have to wait a while longer).

That would depend on which resort. If you are trying to get into a small resort like VWL or BCV, the sooner the better. If you own at a larger resort like SSR or OKW, you should be able to for quite awhile.

I think you will be able to book either OKW or SSR inside the 7 month window. Good luck.

It might also depend on what size room you are looking for.

We originally booked a Studio at SSR for Spring Break this year. We decided to upgrade to a 1BR at OKW in January (3 months out) and got on the waiting list. The waiting list came through within about 3 weeks and we had a great time!

Sooooooooo if you have one reservation using points, and you want to go on the waiting list at another resort and you have to use the same points, can you do both at the same time? Just thinking that since our home resort is SSR (11mth window) and we would like to stay at OKW (7mth window) to be safe I would book at SSR 11mths in advance and then try OKW when the 7mth hits, I would have to use the same points as we do not have enough to do both. Is this possible or do they frown on this sort of thing?

You can neither reserve nor go on the waiting list for a non-home resort until 7 months out. However, you can reserve your home at 11 months and then switch to another at 7 months using the same points -- you just cancel the one ressie and make the other one in the same phone call after finding out there is space at the non-home resort. It is a very common and accepted practice.

I was able to book a studio for this past Easter Week about 2-weeks before. They had SSR and OKW available.
