Hi Everyone,
Just popping over from the UK boards for some advice. With one son at Uni and one at 6th form college we are restricted with our holidays. We've done Orlando seven times, once in October , once in June and the rest in Feb.
The boys only have the Summer or Easter off together, so any advice would be very welcome. I realise Easter would be very busy so do the crowds die down in the last two weeks of August? The price has now gone sky high for Orlando in Easter and the Summer :sad2:
Maybe we should try a holiday to Anaheim and the surrounding area. It may be as expensive as Orlando but it's something we'd all like to do before the boys don't want to holiday with us anymore. Of course they'll still keep coming as long as we're paying :rolleyes1

I would look into going in August. A lot of US children go back to school so I hear the crowds decrease. Plus they are offerring free dining during the last week of August!:upsidedow

As far as I know, DLR has never offered free dining. That is something that only WDW offers.

I've been to DLR several times during Easter and it's pretty crowded. Last year, the week before Easter wasn't as crowded as past years because Easter was so late that the spring breaks were spread out over a longer period of time. The last part of August might be okay but watch for when the SoCal APs get unblocked since there will be a lot of people who were blocked all summer who want to get in a trip to DLR before school starts.

Late August can be quite busy at DLR. It depends on the year and how late in August you are considering.

And are you talking about August 2011 or 2012?

It would be 2012 and probably the last two weeks of August and we would stay off-site but walking distance.

A 2012 visit would be even more reason to do August over Spring Break because Cars Land will be open in June 2012. :)

And I agree early August would be better than late.

Why the last 2 weeks? The 1st 1/2 of August would be better.... what about late July?

In Orlando the schools seem to go back mid August so the parks are quieter and flight prices from London drop. Isn't that the case for the Anaheim area?

Why is late July/early August better than the end of August?

Thanks for taking the time to reply

It is because of SoCal AP blockouts...

Thanks for all the info. Never realised about the AP holders etc. I suppose only ever having done Orlando, I thought things would be similar.

Anaheim/LA would be totally new to us and at the moment it's just a thought.
Will have a play with end July or beginning August. At some point, I might even mention to DH what I'm doing

Thanks everyone for your quick replies :goodvibes

WDW are similar. Except when they are not. ;)
