Our family decided to spend the day at DLR for Easter this year and we were NOT disappointed.
The weather was awesome.
Disney expected big crowds so they had every ride and area running in full swing. Both theaters for Soarin', double queue for Pirates, both stations for Big Thunder, etc. Lines moved quickly.
The crowd of people I thought would be there, didn't materialize. A CM we talked to said that they were running lower attendance than expected this spring break season.
We really enjoyed Big Thunder Ranch BBQ. We've been there before, but not all together. Here is where a little extra pixie dust happened for us.
My two youngest have been performing since they were able to walk. It has been their love and as such they have done a number of differnet types of shows involving a whole spectrum of music. Our table was situated to the side of the stage and they had their backs to it. The performer comes on and starts singing one of the songs and they spontaneously start singing and moving to the music as this song was one of the routines they had done several years earlier. Well, apparently they were a little louder than they thought as they caught the attention of the performer. Now, if you don't know this place, the idea is audience participation. They want to engage you and get you to go along. Well, she stopped signing and my kids just kept going, oblivious to the fact that she had stopped and was watching them. We were laughing so hard. They ended up being coaxed on stage and they did the song! When they came back to the table they proclaimed that this was the best easter ever.
The whole thing became a bit of a gag for the rest of the show. Anytime the performer started a song she would ask my girls if they knew it. If they said no, she said "good, lets do that one". The stage manager came over and gave them buttons and said it does happen often that someone knows a part fo the song and they are brought up on stage and usually don't know the whole thing. It was a first to have a duet and that they knew the whole song.
We've been to DLR countless times as individuals and as a family and someone Disney still finds a way to make things special. We had a marvelous time at the parks today. Hats off to the mouse!
