Ok so we will take the plunge. We will take the kids to WDW during their Easter breaks which will be the week before Easter Sunday, leaving Easter Monday.

I know it will be crowded, but tell me how crowded. We always go during President's week in February.

So like I said, give it to me straight, What will it be like, the good, bad, and ugly.

Thanks!

The Good - Nice Weather! We went for the first time this year for Easter. The weather was hot but not HOT HOT! Nicer than February. (We go Pres Week a lot too.)

Check your resort for Easter goings on. OKW has an Easter Egg hunt on Easter Morning that my son participated in. :) They hid Easter Eggs all around the whole resort.

Timekeeper and Carosel of Progress were both open. :bounce:
And the following weekend started the Flower and Garden Festival at Epcot. :teeth:

The Bad - The Crowds... but if you follow usual Crowd combat techniques they aren't unmanagable. IE - Go for Early and Late. Avoid the parks mid-afternoon.

The UGLY!! - Airplane Ticket Prices from NY to MCO and Room Rates. OUCH!! They hurt. We actually flew two different airlines. AirTran going down and Delta coming back. We got better deals going oneway on each than round tripping it on either one.

As with all things Your Milage May Vary. ;)

My DW being a teacher means we have done the WDW Easter thing in the past. Haven't in a few years, but we've been there, done that.

As cindy said, great weather. Also, lots of events and entertainment. Definitely look for an Easter egg hunt at one of the resorts. Late hours are always a good thing.

Now...........the crowds. Yes, they will be huge, but as cindy mentioned the can be managed with a little planning. However, while it is great to see, beware the Easter parade. That was the single most crowded event we have ever attended at WDW. Mind you, we've been at WDW for the 4th of July, Christmas, Presidents Day - all the REAL busy times - and that Easter parade was by far the worst. The crowd was so large that it really took a lot of enjoyment out of the experience of the parade. So, if you go for the parade, mentally and physically prepare yourself as it can get ugly, especially if you aren't prepared or aren't expecting it.

You'll have a great time regardless. Enjoy your trip!

We've done the last two years down there and there are crowds...but the hours are much longer.

Staying on site is almost a must. We do early entry on each day and walk on rides for the two hours. We keep going until lunch then head back to the pool, nap, then go back to the parks which are open late and beautiful in the evening. MK is open to midnight most nights and very magical.

I like the party atmosphere of large crowds.

I would recomend that you do PS's for any sit-down meal. I was amazed at the number of times that people came to the hostess and were shocked that they couldn't get a seat unless they waited two hours. Don't think you can walk in any table-service restaurant - it ain't happn'

The weather is perfect. 70-low 80's. Good pool weather but not pass out weather.

If you can think of any specific questions let me know.

Thanks so much! This seems to be pretty much what I have expected. I will make PS for sit downs. We will do the early late, break in the middle thing. Also, we are staying sort of onsite at the Dolphin, that will be a first for us as well.

I planned on avoiding the MK on Easter Sunday. I heard that the Easter Parade is actually taped earlier. Is this true?

Thanks!

I just thought of another question: How late are the parks open during Easter weeks? Did you go to E night? Did they have them? What time were the shows and parades?

Thanks!

We always go at Easter break. The weather is great, hardly ever rains and I love that the parks are open late. The best advice is get there EARLY and leave around lunchtime for a nap or swimming. Return around dinnertime when the crowds thin out and take advantage of Fastpass! We went this past Easter and never waited longer than 1/2 hour for anything. If the wait was longer we just came back later. Also they no have the Easter Parade:( .
