Easter egg suggestions

DS11 wants to do an egg hunt for his 18 month old cousin. What are some things I could put in the eggs that would be suitable for a toddler?

One year for my toddler nephew, we did goldfish, teddy grahams, fruit snacks, and mini m&m's. We just wiped out the plastic egg and added the goodies...he loved it. You could probably add some smaller type crackers too, I've seen mini club crackers and cheez-its before.

Why not some real, decorated hard boiled eggs? I haven't seen it in years, but when I was a kid I remember going to a public easter egg hunt where some of the eggs were real and not plastic toy eggs with something in them. They might not actually eat them, but there's something to be said for tradition.

I'm worried that we'll miss some real eggs and the dogs will eat spoiled eggs and puke all over the house. Our younger dog is a goat in dog form.

That is a legitimate concern! We missed one at my aunt's house one year when I was a kid, and the smell was awful!!

We are putting puffs, yogurt drops, and beet snacks for my 18 month old niece. Her parents won't really let her have any "junk" (their words, not mine) so settling for some of her favorite snacks to put in the eggs.

For a baby, I wouldn't really worry about putting much of anything in them. The baby is just going to love finding them and putting them in the basket.

I've held Easter egg hunts for a long time.....my sons and friends, my sister's grandchildren and now our own grandkids this weekend. I never ever put anything in the eggs and they all are happy as clams when looking and finding all the eggs.

Something for their parents and maybe a few stickers. My son was around that age his second Easter and he just liked putting the eggs in his basket. Mom and dad ate all the candy.
