Just came from store - picked up salad, fruit & yogurt.
While there I saw the Easter candy on sale. Bought a few bags of peanut butter (I wont touch pb) so I can fill DSs plastic eggs. Will wait till Sat before to buy the tempting candies. Hopefully will work some of the lower calorie candies into my fitday.
Taking DS to Chuckees after he gets his report card next wk. Thinking of picking up some tokens to put in those eggs too.

What are you guys doing about the Easter candy?

I am doing less candy this year so I won't be tempted. Instead of so much candy I got DS a DVD, a book and a free stuffed animal I got with some coupons. For candy there are kinder eggs, little chocolate eggs and a bunny.

I refuse to buy any Hershey's candies for their baskets. I love Hershey's chocolate and won't be able to resist the temptation!

My kids always get a chocolate bunny, lots of other smaller candies, peeps of course, little toys like jump ropes, bubbles, match box cars, Little Debbie snack cakes and goldfish crackers.

The thing they like the best is the Easter bunny always puts a new toothbrush and new toothpaste in their basket to remind them to brush their teeth. They get a kick out of that and thing the Easter Bunny is so smart.

They also get 1 small wrapped gift hidden somewher in the house from the Bunny. Usually a Barbie or computer game. Something not too expensive. The Easter Bunny isn't rich you know!;)

We only buy a couple of pieces of candy and fill the rest of the eggs with coins and dollar bills.

Then, we go out to a toy store and let them pick out a toy.

I do the same at Halloween, I 'buy' their halloween candy from them and then we go get a toy.

They actually seem to like this system better because "the candy is just gone, but we get to keep the toy".

Lucky me - all the children are out of the house now! (Actually, I kind of miss them . . :( ) So Isend them candy without opening the packages. My (skinny) husband isn't a big candy eater , so we just don't get int he house. I get over feeling deprived a few days later. :)

on valentine's day my dd got a Beta fish (Japaneese fighting fish)

for Easter she'll get the plastic eggs in her basket, some filled with jelly beans, some with coins, some with a dollar, some with disney dollars, one with a movie ticket and probably a dvd or two - Brother Bear and Spirited Away - and a ty beanie baby or two, sidewalk chalk, bubbles, a jump rope (last year she got a skip it...they're a lot of fun!) ---She'll never miss the candy:teeth:

I bought my kids (5,3,1-no candy for 1 year old) very small Hershey's bunnies (about 2 1/2"-smaller than a candy bar) and some Pooh PB candies for the plastic eggs. I also got small prepackaged bags of Teddy Grahams for the eggs. Then I got some toys for their baskets-DVD, books, Match box cars, little dolls, sidewalk chalk...

I didn't buy anything for Valentine's Day-that might have to change when they get older and see what their classmates get.

Here in the UK we do things slighly different than in the U.S. We don't do Easter baskets, we have large chocolate Easter eggs. Although because my DH is American we do hide some eggs from the Easter bunny! Which is kind of difficult to explain when my DD's friends don't have the Easter bunny going to their homes! So my house will be full of chocolate!!
