My daughter just started highschool and I think we have to switch our usual vacation time(1st week In Nov.--NJTeacher Convention). She would be missing 5 days. What are my chances of getting something reasonable inside the park? I'm completely unfamiliar with this time of the year. As of right now, I can get a good deal on flying, but I'm not sure about the hotel prices and when discounts(if any) come out. Any helpful hints out there...

That depends upon whether you are a teacher or government employee etc. Check the mousesavers.com site and see if you qualify for any of the discounts at the time period of your Easter break.

Last year we had resssies for the teacher discount at the Swan for Easter break but ended up getting a WDW postcard for AKL and used that instead.

Be prepared to search high and low for discounts. I also saw them advertised on the WDW site itself around that time period.

Regardless, go ahead and book your room(s) and then watch for a good discount. And get ready for crowds! It was quite a shock for us. We had never been at a peak vacation period before (nor in heat!) and we will probably never go that time of year again even though we too have a high schooler now.

Good luck!

MsDisney5....

I will start off by wishing you and your family a great trip!

I found everything to be rather high, since it is their peak season. We stayed off site to save a few $$$. Even McDonald's raised their prices during that time.

But no matter the cost, to see the look on DS's face when Dale chose him to dance in the Easter parade, I would have paid more!! I do have to share it was our first trip, it was 91 degrees and the park had apprx 90,000 visitors. A CM told me that was close to capacity, although I never heard what that figure was.

With that said, I will NEVER go at that time of year again, but I can't wait 'til 2/28/03 for my second adventure to the World!

To repeat the previous commemt, Mousesavers.com is the best way to go for codes & discounts. Mary really does her research.

(sorry this was so long and off course!) :jester:

We have gone the last 3 years during Easter break. It is always very, very crowded & everything is always the highest price possible, however, we like taking the 2 weeks & just relaxing.

If you want to go on a budget trip, that's not the time to go. Also if you want to try to see as much as possible, that's not the time to go either.

You may be able to get some discounts on rooms in the resort, but I don't know how good they will be. If you're planning on going this coming Easter they will most likely be gone by this time.

Personally, we enjoy going at this time because we don't have to worry about the kids missing school. The weather is always nice. We have decided its not worth it to "kill" ourselves to see everything. We get AP's, spend a lot of time at the pool during the day & do parks in the evening after dinner or very early morning.

Some people would never go at this time. Although extremely crowded (EXTREMELY) we always have a great time.
