Hi,

We are thinking about going back in Easter 2007 (only time we can go, due to dd1 / ds at school).

My question is (cos we have always gone out of school holidays) when is the best time to book for Easter 2007......???? how late should be leave it....the other reason we want to go is because bil is moving to NY this year, and it would be a good place to meet up (as don't fancy take 3 kids to NY) - but between now and then he could move back, so am reluctant to book too early..but then don't want to leave it too late and not get any seats or the price be too high....

Spoke to dh about it last night, and he does not really want to book too far in advance....???

Ohhh what to do....if we book soon, how much would we have to pay (2 adults and 3 kids) and what about booking a villa - leave it until nearer the time......so confused!!!!!

Advise please...

Thanks
Nat

If you're tied to dates, then school holiday times do tend to book up fairly early (especially if you're a family and need more than just the odd seat!).

When we booked for Easter 2004, the Virgin flight on the date we wanted was almost full about 18 months in advance. In the end we changed our dates to three days earlier as the flights were over £300 cheaper each  DDs had to miss two days of school, but we were able to work around that. Seats on those dates sold out pretty early on too, because of the price difference.

Good luck :)

First Choice are now taking bookings upto End April 07 so go on their website for some guide prices. It will also show you what deposit you will need to pay now.

I belive Virgin Holidays were taking Easter 2007 bookings a few months ago. I wanted a flydrive with Virgin 14 months in advance for October 2006 and was sold out so went with BA Holidays. Straight forward flights are available 11 months out.

Good luck with your planning

Virgin are only taking bookings up to December 2006 at the moment but the second edition of their brochure which will let you book up to May 2007 is out at the end of this month.

someone posted on this board a few months ago that if you phoned virgin up they were taking advanced bookings for Easter. It sounded like you could reserve a place until the prices were announced.

That's right, they operate an advance registration scheme where you have to write in with details of the package/flydrive you want, they then contact you with a price before the brochure hits the shops and hold it for you for 3 weeks.

HI,

Thanks for the info - called Virgin and asked about the advanced registration for Easter 2007, but the lady said they don't do that....!!!! she said prices etc are released on the 23rd Nov, so to call back then...so guess going to have to take a chance!!!

Thanks

Heres the link to the Advance Registration bit http://www.virginholidays.co.uk/home/faq/default.aspx?category=10#65 . To register in advance this is done in writing.

Personally I'm going to take the risk and wait to see if they are going to do discount on Christmas Day again.

Sam,

Can I ask what discount you got offered on Xmas Day last time and was this online or via phone?

Thanks

Hi Bekki

We haven't booked before on Christmas Day. But I believe last year (someone correct me if I'm wrong) that 15% was offered and I think it was online only.

Sam's right :)

I think they also offered this on New year's Day.

Yes and I believe they also offered it at Easter. You just have to check their website on the day and hope they are going to offer it. We are away for Christmas so will be unable to take advantage of it if they do offer it but I will keep my fingers crossed for you Sam. :)

Woo hoo!!! I booked this last week, but being a bit superstitious, wouldn't post until I had received the confirmation! Going on the early flight and back on the late one, so more time in Florida, yee hah!!!

Nice one Elaine!! Details, please ;)
We're going for three weeks this time, staying at Comfort Suites Maingate East on the 192. We also plan to take off to the beach for a few days this time, probably to either St Pete Beach or Treasure Island. We haven't been to Universal yet so that is something new to look forward to as well. We would have liked to do a cruise as well but our porch is going to need replacing soon so I think that should really take priority (talking with my sensible head there, not my heart! LOL)

I am getting sooooo excited already, when the envelope with the Virgin logo on came yesterday I actually kissed it! :rotfl2:

I have to say Elaine, that extra week just makes a world of difference! Problem is, now I am used to 3 weeks I am feeling a bit miffed we are only going for 2 this year :rotfl:

It really does free you up for some relaxing time :)

Treasure Island was beautiful - we also loved Siesta Key, just south of Sarasota.
