We have "evacuation remorse" from Floyd years ago. Never again will I leave for a hurricane.
I don't think we'll have issues from Earl anyway, but we are prepared for all sorts of hurricane eventualities: plenty of food, water, batteries, cash, ammo (jk, sorta
), propane for the camp stove, etc. We do regular hurricane prep on our property, making sure there are no trees that could reach the roof if they fell, picking up any branches and pinecones that could become projectiles. When we built the house, we made sure everything we used was rated to a category 5 storm. Reinforced garage door, reinforced windows, etc. We've been through several 'canes in this house and have the batten-down-the-hatches routine down to just over an hour.
We will be staying out of the water this weekend - rip currents are no joke.
Good luck to everyone who might be affected!

DH was 15 and those video cameras back then were big compared to today's cameras.
