Easiest way to get to Miami port

We are doing a combo trip over thanksgiving week this year. Our plan is to fly into MCO, spend 3 nights at Disney and drive to Miami to sail on the magic for the rest of the week. We will fly home out of ft lauderdal after the cruise. My question is what is the easiest way to pick up our rental car to drive to Miami? One option I guess is to rent it as soon as we get to MCO but I know we won't use it while at Disney. Is there a easy way to pick up the rental Monday night before we leave for Miami Tuesday morning? Once in Miami were just going to drop the car off and stay with family that can take us to and from the port so no problem there. Also when should I start looking for rentals for that week, is that a busy week for rentals? TIA

You can rent from Alamo/National on site at WDW (Car Care Center, Swan/Dolphin, or Shades of Green) or from many other rental companies in the Downtown Disney area. Your drop off will be at MIA. From the MIA airport, you can take the shuttle to the port. Several of the major car companies have a free shuttle from the MIA rental car parking facility to the port. But, if you don't need the shuttle, I guess you could drop off at a local office close to your family.

I would check rates from MCO as well as picking up the night before you leave for Miami. Sometimes, with coupon codes, you may get a better deal or it might be a similar price with a longer rental.

If you find a rate you consider reasonable now, book it if it is not a "pay it now" rate. You can always cancel if something better shows up.
