I'm finding it's easier to find ADRs for 4 people instead of 3. I'm hoping to find last-minute cancellations. Am I a terrible person if I book for 4, knowing full well there will only be 3 of us? Though I must say we hate being crammed in at a table....

No, you are not a terrible person. It's the game you sometimes have to play to get an ADR. We are a party of 2. Some restaurants have very few slots for 2, even when the restaurant is almost empty. We like Tutto Italia for lunch & eat there every trip (we take 2 or 3 trips a year). I always have to make an ADR for 3. When we get there, I just tell them it will only be 2 of us. Never had a problem.

Gotta do what you gotta do.........

Try for three first and if you cannot find anything, then add one and try for four. The reservation system has a known glitch that makes it harder for odd numbered parties to book reservations. The majority of tables in the restaurants seat an even number (e.g. 2 top, 4 top, 6 top...) and the system wants to fill every seat at the table so when you search for 3 the system bypasses available tables. Add one person and the system will often find tables. When you arrive at the restaurant just let the host/hostess know there are 3 of you. As long as at least one person shows up for the reservation you won't be charged for the "missing" person. Although some restaurants have tables for three (e.g. 'Ohana, Boma) at most restaurants you will be seated at a 4 top.

Thanks for the tip. I've been striking out with 3 on the hard to get BOG. I didn't know 180 days out that we were going to Disney.

They will likely seat you at the same table either way.

It may impact their overall numbers to due capacity restrictions but ... if they had let you book the 3 that they were capable of hosting to begin with it wouldn't be an issue.

And yes, sometimes you can modify it down. I've had a few where if I wanted to do that it wanted to cancel my ADR so I let it stand and just told them at the podium.
