I am in process of purchasing BWV (chose over VWL) as wanted to plan for when my 4 year old (VWL better now since MK close) gets older.

We like going at Christmas

I was wondering if I choose to stay at VWL the next couple of years at Christmas what my chances will be with 11 month window?

Hi jcf,
First off congratulations and Welcome Home!
Perhaps I don't understand the question fully, but... if you are purchasing at BWV, and you do not already own points at VWL, than the 11 month window at VWL is not available to you.
What you need to do is book at BWV at the 11 month window - to be assured of having a place to stay over Christmas. Then at the 7 month window you'll need to call MS and try to switch to VWL.
Depending on what sort of accomodations you'll need, it may be tough, so by all means ask to go on the wait list at that time.
You are in for some very magical times no matter what. Enjoy!

If I understand correctly, you don't own at VWL, but want to book Christmas there? At 11 months, you can't. Using your points (BWV) you'd have to wait and try at the 7 month point.
that's a good example of what people call the 'home resort priority'.

You could of course rent VWL from a VWL owner and book it that way at the 11 month window.

Edited to Add what was just posted above -- if you want to use your points, do book and try to transfer at the 7 month point.

Welcome Home!! I own at BWV too, and I agree that you need to reserve a room at BWV at the 11 month window, so you will have a room no matter what. Then, at the 7 month window, try to reserve VWL.

Last year, I was able to reserve VWL at the 7 month window, the year before I was not. It just all depends upon the year. ;)

Thks, for info. I thought that I would have a better chance with VWL at 7 months with 0 chance of BWV at the 7 month window. Sorry, for confusion.

Ahhhhh - well each resort has it's unique charm during the Christmas season and VWL is really special - Of course I dont' say that just because we own there ;)

But on the practical side, VWL is the smaller resort so I don't think you can simply count on getting in at the 7 month window. The suggestions here have been good though....

Book at BWV at 11 months, then switch at 7 and wait list if you need to. Or rent points from a VWL owner to get the 11 month window and rent out your own points to cover for the next few years until your family is more interested in staying at BWV.

Only DVC knows for sure but it appears VWL would be the most difficult if you look at the overall options but for certain room sizes and types, BWV will be more difficult. That appears to hold true for standard view, BW view and the 3 BR units. Book at the 11 month window at your home resort then you can try to change over if you want at the 7 month window and wait list if need be.

Last year i rented points from a member that owned VWL, i booked our family reunoin trip at the 11 month " with no problem". this year i didnt want to borrow my BCV points and waited for the 7 month to book the BCV with my SSR points. i only needed a few days before our cruise. i got one night, i asked about the VWL, BWV and MS told be they were no rooms available, i tried right at the 7 month to the day and no rooms. i waitlisted my other day and it did come thru. i believe it came thru only because i only need one night, not a week.
either trade points with a VWL member for your stay at VWL for christmas and book your ressies at the 11 month or buy VWL points. :daisy:
