Last year in Sidney Austraillia (sp) the locals decided to turn off their lights [during a one hour time period]. It was a huge success and this year is going worldwide. They say that last year the amount of energy they saved was equal to about 48,000 cars being taken off the road.

Yes, but it wasn't promoted worldwide like it is now.

I'll be at work, and I highly doubt they'll shut down for an hour...

But I'm going to tell my parents about it, and hopefully they'll remember.

This is a good idea, have as many people as possible shut everything off for an hour. Hopefully a lot of people participate.

I'm not turning off my lights.
I wasn't planning to, and my parents are having company over and refuse to let them be in the dark.
And it would be a bad idea to play darts in the dark.

Earth Hour now. I've turned off all the lights and low & behold, my dad now decides he wants to see what to order for dinner and has turned on the brightest light because he can't see with any of the others -_-

No, sorry. I'm really OCD about having the lights on.

My dad goes around and turns them all off, and I follow him and turn them all back on.

I'd do it, but nobody else in the house would.
I usually keep my lights off anyways until nightime when I can't see at all.
I have enough sun through the window and I hate having the lights on.
I like it darker. I always turn the lights off.

My family did it, I was over at my boyfriend hosue and they did it too.
It was actually really awesome.
We lit tons ofcandles, and for an hour we all sat there and played charades.
Then my BF & I went for a walk around the neighbourhood to see how many people had their lights off--just about everyone did.
Even my work, which is a big movie theatre company, participated. Obviously they can't turn all their power off, but they dimmed all the lights.

It was really well promoted around here and everyone I've talked to did it.
Verrry cool. I actually really enjoyed myself.

We did the opposite...we turned all the lights in the house on. But only for a few minutes.

LOL, don't get me wrong, it was a good thing. But I forgot to do it, and at the time, my Flash Movie I was making at the time died before I saved... cowinkydink or something else
