Has anyone used these to stop ear pain when flying? I suffer from this and chewing etc does not help me and it causes so much pain it reduces me to tears it states on the instructions that you need to hold your nose to clear your ears before inserting them... Do you *have* to do that? I find that painful too

I used them recently on a short flight to London and they worked a treat. I used Boots own brand and didn't do the nose-holding thing but they still worked. I put them in prior to take-off & removed them when we landed. I usually take anti-histamines the day before I fly but forgot this time so I can confidently say the earplanes did the trick for me! I hope they work for you too
