I was in Boots tonight and saw there own make ,it was 2 pairs of childrens for Approx £3.99 , has anyone used there own make and are they any good, as i will probably have to buy them.

Yes, assuming that you are talking about the ones that look just like earplanes but are Boots' own brand (but boots are plain/white clear plastic, whereas earplanes are blur clear plastic), have tried them: they are just as good - no perceptable difference.

My ears are so bad that I would be able to tell: earplanes were a godsend when I discovered them (no more excruciating ear pain of feeling like my sinuses were going to explode from my forehead...), but the Boots ones are just as good and tend to be a little cheaper (sometimes you get three for two on them).

Rest assured, no problem. Just - as usual - make sure that you get them in nice and early... on long haul travel I don't tend to bother to put them in for take-off, but make sure they are firmly in about 1 hour 15 minutes before landing. Some people may prefer to have them in earlier/longer: do what is right for you :)

Edited to add, it is unclear if you are buying them for yourself or your kids. If you are an adult, make sure you get the adult size - although I am probably stating the obvious... ;)

Thanks Boo and alison, will go and buy them tomorrow, they are for my DD as she has had problems on the plane ,like you said Boo, especially when landing, and they are doing 3 for 2 in boots on quite a lot of products, thanks for the info on these.

Another one here who has bought the Boots brand earplanes for DDs and they're just as good as the Earplanes brand.

In fact, I think it's the Boots ones that have a far more sensible 'keep safe' plastic container than the silly little Earplanes tube thing, so that puts them ahead in my book! ;)

This might sound daft - but what are ear planes ?

Do they help with the preasure, I am forever popping my ears on take off and landing. That and sucking worthers oringinals (any excuse for a sweet) ;)

Thanks

Yes, they claim to equalise the pressure inside and outside the ear, minimising the discomfort (pain!) that can be a problem for some flyers - especially if you have a cold or sinus trouble.

I've never felt the need for them (so far!) myself, but DDs and DM all say they make a big difference :sunny:

I have had several operations on my ears and used to be in tears on landing due to the pain!!!!!!!

Ear Planes are an absolute god send! No pain what so ever now!!! Boots own brand are just as good as the actual ear planes.

Have Fun

Hi

I think that most people need to equalise the pressur somehow on the way down on a flight: sucking a sweet or popping your ears tends to work.

People who use earplanes use them because they can't equalise the pressure (normally because of blockages in the little tubes that run between the nose and the ears or because those tubes are unusually narrow) without considerable pain/agony. I have been like that since a small child. I know that I am still like it because if I forget to put the ear plugs in early enough, I still get some pain.

Earplanes are just a VERY good type of ear plug: have used all types (including foam and wax/mouldable ones) and NOTHING is NEARLY as good as earplanes.

They are quite expensive, though (£3.50/£4.50 or so a pair) and not the most comfortable thing to wear jambed into your ears. Plus you are not recommended to wear them too many times (I tend to wear my for two flights - i.e. a return flight - and that's about it...). I believe this is because deposits from your ears (no matter how clean they are) can stop the earplanes from working so effectively...

So I wouldn't bother with them unless you get pain when flying. If you do, though, they are fantastic! :)

::yes:: I think this puts the Boots ones streets ahead of the others! I have used them for many trips, when it says that you should replace them every trip, I have put them straight back in their container and they are good to go over and over again!! :)
