Early ticket release

I am staying off site for 4 days before my resort stay. I booked through a travel agency and she told me I would have to request early ticket release at guest services once I arrived at the park. I was unable to make fast pass selections on MDE for the days prior to my resort stay . I had to call Disney and have the CM manually enter fast passes for those days. I asked the CM about early ticket release and she said they would issue cards and that our magic bands wouldn't be active until or resort stay which is contrary to what the travel agent said. I don't know who to believe. Help!!

1. Correct.
2. Correct.
3. That's the first time I've even heard about being able to do that.
4. Incorrect.
5. The phone CM is wrong. (They have no training in park procedures.)

The thing I'm most surprised (and confused) about is...
Did the phone CM let you book FP+ for those days before your check-in date?

Yes, We went through each day and I told her what I wanted . I cant alter them on mde .

And you won't be able to alter them when you are in the parks - you may not even be able to Cancel them. Be sure to use them or it may affect your ability to book your 4th FPs and so on each day.

You got lucky there. You shouldn't be able to do fastpass until 60 days from your Disney resort stay.

That's not the issue in this case.

Since these are "package tickets" guests are not eligible to make FP+
-at all- on any date prior to the actual check-in date at the resort.

Looks like the phone CM did some kind of override that counteracted the lock-out.
As hiroMYhero said, these "override" FP+ may "behave very differently"
in the guest's MDE than FP+ booked in the normal way.

Why would guests who book a package not be able to book fp+? Is this different than a regular package?

Allison, the CM helping the OP errored in booking those pre-package FPs. Because the tickets aren't valid until check-in day of the package, OP wasn't entitled to those offsite park day FPs.

That's why they can't be altered at all. The override is usually done when there is a FP booking glitch for guests with active tickets. In this case, the OP was fortunate.

If these are "package tickets" guests cannot advance-book FP+
that can be used on any date prior to the actual check-in date at the resort.
ets.

What's weird is that my resort stay says room only on MDE. Not sure if that makes a difference or not. The problem is this wasn't explained to me when I bought the package if it was I never would have done it or i would have put the resort stay at the first of my trip. I just feel like that inside of 30 days you should be able to make selections before or during your resort stay since off-site guests are able to. I wasn't asking for anything more than either an on-site or off site guest is entitled to.

1. That can make ALL the difference.
2. Agreed. Big time!
3. Just one of the "unintended consequences" that are a part of the FP+ system for "package tickets."
4. Getting down to the nub of this...
If you do, in fact, have "room-only" resort reservations, and (therefore) "stand-alone" tickets,
you CAN book advance FP+ for dates that precede your resort check-in.

Your travel agent should be able to know and reveal these kind of details.

Yes, that particular detail is very important. For whatever reason they failed to mention it. Thank you for your comments and your concise guidance !
