!!!! Early Roll Call for January 21 2006 Eastern Magic Cruise !!!!

Welcome Scubabeck!

Correct me if I'm wrong guys - but I have Sunday as formal night, Tuesday as the pirate night and Thursday as the Captain's Gala - semi-formal night.

I just wanted to remind everyone that you have until Thursday to get me your order for our bracelets. For anyone who missed it, we're ordering bright green (the disboards color) rubber bracelets from www.reminderband.com. This will allow us to recognize each other throughout the week. The cost is $1 plus in shipping if you want it sent to your house before the cruise. I will probably just ask that you reimburse me on the ship since that will be the easiest thing for everyone. I'll send you each a PM once I ship them with your final cost with shipping. See post 617 http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=10753928&postcount=617
for size info.

I have orders from SandyM, Stephmicksara, Need a Disney Fix, gydell, clwert,
the4nitz's, unixadm, soccrmom, piperG, jldsmd, plenam and crazy4M.

Anyone else? I will order a few extra just in case.

I think the consensus is for it to say "MAGICal 1/21/06 cruise" correct?

Hi guys! I have been MIA lately. Work is crazy with budget time and then there is Christmas.....aaaargh!!

This is our first cruise and I think I am feeling overwhelmed about being prepared enough. Can't believe it will be here so soon and there is so much I haven't done yet! I had a dream last night that I was at work on Friday the 20th at almost 3pm. My parents called to say they were on their way to pick us up to take us to the airport and I didn't have anything packed!!! ok....still have time, relax.....

OK, I'm going to go start a list and feel a little better!

Rachel
Rachel - In know what you mean! Did anyone see the post with the packing list that was on the main board? There were about 50 things I never even considered taking! I have a running list on my desk so I can add things. DH is convinced that we're going to be taking 6 suitcases. He may be right at this rate!

And I haven't even started on the door signs. I've got to get those Christmas cards out the door first...

Here's the thread in case you missed it. It has the link to the packing list.

Okay - I'm leaving now. Pretty bad when you reply to your own posts.

LOL I went to the web sight for Pirate names ... just to see what mine would be. It was Dirty Bess Flint. I don't understand why others would throw me overboard because I smell bad... I marked down I bathed daily. How they get dirty from that I won't know. lol

Has anyone thought that maybe it has nothing to do with bathing? :rolleyes1 :rotfl2:

I wasn't referring to bathing when I wished DW was listed as dirty.

DW is related to SandieT. She came up Captain Bess Kidd. I'd rather see her classified as "dirty"

Wait, this is a family board, better not go there.

Lisa,

You are correct. Those are the correct nights on the Eastern. This is why I requested PLA rotation. It would put you in Lumiere's for Formal night, Parrot Cay for Pirate night, and Animator's Palate for Semi-Formal Night. That rotation works great with regards to the theme of the room and the theme of the night.

I just can't see being in Lumiere's on Pirate night.

La la la.... (covering my ears).

And I'm related to you Iron Jack? The question is, did you complete DW's questionnaire or did she? Hmmm, I think you might of rigged it!

She was there when I was doing it for her. And she did answer the questions I asked. I can honestly say I would have answered a few of them differently.

In fact, let me do that now...........

Her name when I do it is Dirty Bess Flint. :rotfl2:

NO, I did not munipulate it so the word Dirty was in her name.

FYI,
I took my girls in to get the Hepatitis A shot today and they told me they are recommending it for everyone who comes in for a well check, especially if you are traveling in Mexico, Caribbean etc.. The virus is being seen more often lately. They had a ten year old in last week for a check up. She had been in Mexico and is fine but it had been a month long illness with lots of time in the hospital.
You need it 30 days before you travel (by next thurs) and then a booster 6 or more months later. The first dose basically covers you but they still require a booster. I still need to get mine!

Sandy T,
I actually checked with my cardiologist awhile ago about Hep A/B shots, especially since I have a pre-existing medical condition. She said it was not necessary for a cruise. It's interesting that there is always mixed info about this. You wonder what to do.

I think that MDs are generally concerned when you are going to more remote areas of Mexico and the Caribbean. I checked the CDC website out of curiosity and this is what it says:
Hepatitis A is the most common vaccine-preventable infection acquired during travel. The risk for acquiring HAV infection for U.S. residents traveling abroad varies with living conditions, length of stay, and the incidence of HAV infection in the area visited. Travelers to North America (except Mexico), Japan, Australia, New Zealand, and developed countries in Europe are at no greater risk for infection than in the United States. For travelers to other countries, risk for infection increases with duration of travel and is highest for those who live in or visit rural areas, trek in back-country areas, or frequently eat or drink in settings of poor sanitation. Nevertheless, many cases of travel-related hepatitis A occur in travelers to developing countries with "standard" tourist itineraries, accommodations, and food consumption behaviors.

Travelers should also be advised to avoid drinking beverages (with or without ice) of unknown purity, eating uncooked shellfish, and eating uncooked fruits or vegetables that are not peeled or prepared by the traveler personally.

My husband did get one when he went to work in New Orleans though.

I'm such a big big big, did I mention big time worrier that I will just feel better knowing we all had the shot.
Like you said the risk is very low and I think most people don't get it. I was surprised when my pediatrician said they were recommending it now so I probably would have given to my kids at their next well check up anyway.

I was just passing info on. What someone decides to do is up to that individual and what their Dr. suggests.

Well back to present wrapping. I thought I did really well this year and kept the number of presents to a minimum but as they start to get wrapped there is a lot under that tree and none of them have my name on it!!!!

Sandie - please don't think I'm knocking you! I'm glad you brought it to our attention. I just needed to assuage my guilt for not getting my kids the shot so looked it up! I definitely think people need to consult their doctors about it.

 I don't want to be one of those people who stir things up! Especially since my mom is reading the board now! (they are coming with us)

Lisa

The snow is flying for us here in the midwest. :earseek:

Look at the bright side, only 38 days until we actually sail (36 until we head down to FL). We'll be to the one month mark soon - one week from today.

DW and I are looking at cancelling our 11:00 a.m. Stingray Excursion for CC. Not sure if that excursion is all filled up or not, but if it is and anyone wants that time, let me know. We can coordinate when we cancel and you book. We will probably cancel before next week Wednesday (the one month out date). We have 3 spots (2 adults and 1 child).

DS, who can swim and likes to snorkel in his pool, didn't want anything to do with going out in the water, let alone snorkel, when we were at CC in October. :confused3

Sandie -

ditto to what Lisa said. I'm glad you raised it though as I had been thinking of this...mothers that we are I guess. Lisa, thanks for the CDC info. I think we'll pass since I did discuss it with my doctor and we don't plan on eating any meals on the islands.

Now, back to Christmas stuff for me... haven't started wrapping yet, still have shopping to do and 10 doz cookies to bake for a cookie exchange. Who cares.... I love the holidays and it just started to snow a little...just outside Toronto. Did you see our fine city of Toronto on the Amazing Race last night? It's cold here and I'm ready to cruise.

Carmen

Too cold for me here in NY. It was 2 degrees for my daughter at the bus stop this morning. :cold: Can't wait for the warm tropical sun........

Thanks for mentioning this...called my pediatrician today & she said the kids should have it (she is quite conservative), so we're heading in tomarrow after school. Like you I am a huge worrier, and if we didn't do it I would be FREAKING OUT about everything they touch on the islands, I'll be calling DH's and my doc today as well. Thanks again for the info, something I hadn't thought of and I'm a nurse!!! shame on me!!!

Check one more thing off my list, I just finished a 70 page digital photo book for my dad. "The Year in Pictures".
Now I just have to e-mail it off to be printed and hope it gets to him in time for Christmas!

Good and bad news. The good news is I have lost about 2 pant sizes since May, bad news is I have NO and I mean NO shorts. I keep looking but can't find anything. Not even having luck online.
Anyone come across anything lately?

Is it just me or is anyone else having a few anxiety attacks with the upcoming holiday and the trip?

(My daughters like to pick the little guys at the bottom of the page.)

:confused3 :bride: :bride: :cheer2: :Pinkbounc :guilty: ::MickeyMo pirate: :moped: :badpc:

:dog2: :dog: :earseek: :earsgirl: ::MickeyMo :cheer2:  :Pinkbounc :rolleyes1

I am soooo anxious about everything these days. I can't believe that Christmas is next week YIKES!!!!! I also cannot find any shorts but alas my problem is the opposite of yours. Mine seem to be a bit snug. :rolleyes1 We have some big goings on at work next month so I will basically need to be packed by January 9th because as of that date I probably won't have time to breathe until I lay down in a chair on deck 9 by the pool with my drink of the day. Here's wishing everyone lots of good cheer for the upcoming holiday!!!!
