!!!! Early Roll Call for January 21 2006 Eastern Magic Cruise !!!!

WOW, I am overwhelmed!! New the disboard and to the DCL our 1st... so bare with me as I try to learn the ropes and ligo. We are cruising on the Magic 1/21 and I feel like I have lots of silly little questions, although I am getting alot of them answered via this web site, which for a newbie is very confusing! We are a family of 4 myself, DH DS6 DD3. DD3 absolutely loves the princesses. Hoping for a great warm week in honor of our 10yr wedding anniv. Hope traveling in Jan. will be just that (we are from cold Mi.). Let me know if you can help with my silly little questions. thanks, Cyndie :)

Welcome aboard, Cyndie! There are alot of us Midwesterners who are going to be getting a break from the snow and cold this coming January. This is also the first DCL cruise for DH and I. Our two Disney kids are grown and married so this is our empty-nest trip. That will seem strange. I guarantee all of your questions will be answered on the DIS boards. Again, welcome!!

Wow empty nest, I can't image. Heard the cruise is great for couples too!! What is your take on the passport issue?? Get them or not, my DH thinks it is wise to have them?? thanks Cyndie

Dh and I went ahead and got them for the cruise and the fact that our son is active duty Air Force. If he should be overseas and something happens, we have the passports for any kind of travel.

My neice is interested in email back and fourth with a few of the other little girls on our sailing. If you have girls from 8-12 please feel free to have them email her and she will write back. Her name is Katie and she will be celebrating her 10th birthday two days before we sail. Her email is angelface08@hotmail.com. In the subject please put disney so she knows it is somebody from the trip.

Are we there yet............. :rotfl2:

Thank you so much for your post. I wanted to the same for my DD10 but was a little apprehensive. She has sent an email and is anxiously awaiting a reply. She is an only child and the reason I choose a Disney Cruise vs WDW was in hopes that she would have a better chance of hooking up with some kids her age to add to the experience. After all, Mom is only so much fun. That, and I can't take her to the wine tasting. :)

Thanks again.

We're very excited about the cruise! :cheer2:

Cyndie,
As of 12/31/2005 passports are required for travel to/from the Caribbean. I just printed out the applications from the USPS website. They cost $97.00 for ages 16 and up and $82.00 for 16 and under. If you have the photo taken at the post office it's an extra $15.00 or so. They take about 6 weeks. I live in CO now but grew up in MI (Farmington Hills) and my father still lives there. We also have a daughter who is 3 as well as a 7 year old. They are both finally getting excited about this trip. If you are looking for even more information there is a book called the PassPorter Field Guide to the Disney Cruise Line. It is a lot of fun to read and very informative.
www.passporter.com
Their website has a lot of info too.

WOW from Mi small world. Anyway the whole passport issue. My TA called this AM & said the dates have been postponed to 12/31/2006. She said we should be fine with birth certs and drivers lics. I also checked with the county clerks office they also verified the date change. I have email DSL to just double check with them. I'm going to hold out another week or two and make sure this is correct info. I am soooo excited about this cruise I can't seem to think about much else!!!

I did not know about the passports. Now that is a tough decision, on one hand I'm not sure I want to carry all our birth certificates across the country but on the other hand I really don't want to spend $400.00 if I don't have to. I think i'll wait this one out a couple weeks too and see what my husband thinks. Thanks for the info!!!

Cyndie,

Welcome to the DIS and our Cruise Meet thread. I will update the list of children to add your DS and DD. (see posts 323 and 324)

I called DCL regarding the passports and they told me that the new requirement won't go in effect until 2007.

We were concerned because DS renewal is sitting down in New Orleans. It just missed getting mailed out before the storm hit. It showed that we should have had it by Sept 6th. This tells me they were going to mail it by the 30th.

We plan on using his birth certificate for our October cruise and see if we get the passport by December for the January cruise. We want to give them some time to get it out to us. Our luck would be to resubmit, the original gets sent out, but then cancelled due to the reapplication.

Jeff

Thanks for all the tips. As for the passports, I think we will wait and put the $400.00+ into much more exciting things like the "curise fund'. I believe so far my questions have been answered. Just give me a day or two, starting to think about the excurtions and what is best for DD3. thanks again for all the input! Cyndie

We're first time Disney cruisers! From Northern Virginia and traveling with my parents, DH and DD (7) and DS (will be 5) and DS (will be 3) - two weeks before the cruise. It's a gift from my parents who are in CA and we're in a category 2 so I'm very excited about that! Look forward to meeting some other families with "young-uns"!

Welcome aboard 4warmwishers and leejay22. This is the place to learn everything about a DCL cruise. Craig

leejay22,

Welcome to the DIS. Any questions you have, post here or on the main boards and people will be happy to answer.

I see you are traveling with 3 children. I will add them to the "children lists" (see posts 323 and 324).

Jeff

Craig,

I sent you a pm. Just wanted to give you a heads up.

Jeff

but she will email her back..she has to fight for her computer time..hahaha..and sometimes since she is the youngest she looses...but I will tell her mom to be on the lookout. I think it will be neat for the girls to email before we sail..that way they kinda know somebody before we get there and it won't be so scary on the first day in the lab. :cheer2:

Boy, this cold front coming through Wisconsin today must be a strong one, even H (the devil's home) is freezing over. :cold: MIDWEST IS ACTUALLY RUNNING A SALE! Yes, you heard right, Midwest has an internet only fare from Milwaukee to Orlando for $195 r.t. :cool1:

It took some work with the online help desk, but I was even able to use my voucher in conjunction with the sale. So we bought DW ticket at $195, mine at $135, and DS at $5 (processing fee) plus 20k miles. $335 for all 3 tickets, needless to say we're real happy.

So now that we're booked, we are flying out Thursday afternoon arriving Orlando at 6:50 p.m., spending Thursday and Friday nights at a WDW resort (not sure which one, we are now waiting for a code to be released from Disney) and going to MK and AK on Friday. We fly back on Sunday night, leaving at 7:30 p.m. So we will be staying again at a WDW resort (again to be determined), going to MK and EPCOT the day we get off the ship and then spending Sunday at the hotel pool enjoying the Florida sun :sunny: (hoping they don't have a cold front) and going to Downtown Disney. If it is really warm, 80 or higher, we'll be going to Blizzard Beach.

Jeff

Well, since no one else has said it, 128 DAYS 'TIL OUR CRUISE!!!!!!!!!!!!! pirate:

I received a booklet from DCL listing the excursions, gifts, general info, etc. I'm getting excited now!! :cloud9: :Pinkbounc

There was also a letter enclosed stating that Oct. 23 is the day that returning cruisers can make their spa, Palo, kids' club ressies. pirate:

Can't wait!!!!!! :bounce:
