I'm usually up around 5am everyday to work out before my kids get up. Is the gym on the Dream open that early? Do the doors to the room open and close softly? I won't even attempt to leave that early if they are like hotel doors that click super loud.

What time does Cabanas open for breakfast? My kids are up around 630 no matter what.

Thanks!

I don't know about DCL, but the other lines I've been on (RCCL and princess) have loud doors.

What might help is, when you leave, insert your card to unlock the door, turn the outside handle and close. It should make the door closing a bit quieter.

Cabanas opens at 7:30 AM each morning for the regular buffet breakfast. However, they will be open at 7:00 AM for a continental type breakfast which
should hold you over until the full breakfast.

If hungry before then you can always use room service. Enjoy.

Gym doesn't normally open until 6am in my experience. If you run, you could always run on the running track instead.

Typically you can get some fruit and pastries at one of the quick service places around 7am. And Cove Cafe typically opens at 7am (but kiddos aren't allowed in there). You could have room service delivered but that might wake up others.

Doors can be very loud if you don't use them with care, but if you are careful they aren't terrible. I'm usually up and at em a good 2-3 hours before my mom and she rarely wakes up as I'm getting ready and heading out.

I'm up when u r....I left the cabin....close the door slooooowly.....sloooooooowlyyyyyyy

then wander the decks. it's amazing to watch them clean the main decks with power washers each day and, somehow, they know if you're coming up behind them, stop the spray, and say good morning. Pretty cool.

also, if u take photos, the theaters, clubs are generally accessible so u can take great photos without anybody clogging up your shot.

anyhow, a nearly deserted ship is an unusual thing and it REALLY makes you appreciate the size and scope of the operations...

I think gym was open around 6:30. I would do the same- get up early to workout before kids woke up. Drink stations are open on pool deck and you can run on deck 4 with virtually no one else there. Very beautiful to watch the sunrise while working out. You can also grab a few cereals, fruit etc from cabanas the day before to tide everyone over if they are early risers (until cabanas opens). U have a fridge in your cabin

I actually have to bring a small breakfast snack with me onto the ship or I grab something the day before. I need food shortly after I wake up and none is available at 5.

this is a sore spot for me! I am a runner. I would go on the treadmill at 5 am if I could. When we were on our Alaska cruise, the navigator said the gym opened at 6. The first day, I was out there at 5:50. The sign by the door said it opened at 6:30!!! WAAYY too late when you run 10 miles! It was cold and dark, but I had to run on deck 4. Just a bummer.

anyway.... I wish the gym opened earlier too!

This. I always get up early one day so that I can do a photo shoot. You have to close the door behind you gently, otherwise it can slam. Ships have all sorts of pressurization issues that you wouldn't ordinarily think about or notice, but they are there and can cause doors to slam.

I'm also a runner, but I can't stand treadmills -- I have this horrible fear of being shot off the back of one. I've done 12 miles around deck 4 of the Fantasy on a couple occasions. One of those times, I got a late start and ended up hurdling a few shuffleboard sticks before I was done.

Mark,
I know! The treadmills can be tedious, and it takes a bit to get used to the motion of the ship! My brother and I are training for the WDW Marathon in Jan (My brother is training for the Goofy), so we will be doing some LOOOONG runs around deck 4 on our Thanksgiving cruise. Alaska was particularly cold and WINDY, so I was forced to stick to the treadmills (I am a fair-weathered runner!!!)
