Early park hour closures & park dinner res times

We'll be visiting in late January/early February and currently I'm seeing AK park hours as usually a 5:00pm closure. This is fine. I just want to know, for days like that, when are you supposed to make a Tusker House dinner reservation for? Does it have to be 5:00pm or can it be, say...5:30pm? Because - am I wrong in saying that they'll let you kind of linger and shop a smidge after park close for a bit...wrap up last minute rides and attractions? I haven't got on MDE yet to check times but would appreciate any helpful guidance on this. Last time we got a 5:30 res at Rainforest Café so I knew we'd be out of the park by its 5pm closure. Thanks!

When you go to the dining reservation page for the day you want to dine, it will give you the restaurant's hours and the schedule of reservation times. Choose from the available times that works best for you - the last reservation might be just before 5:00 or it might be a little after park closing depending on the restaurant, whether there will be an EMH that night or if Disney is planning to extend the park's hours.

Ok, thanks. I kind of figured they'd set the choices for me but wanted a heads up before I had to make a decision.

As suggested above, the times available will show up when you make your ADR's. You choose the time slot that you think will work for you. After park closure shops will still be opened while there are guests inside. If you are in a queue the attraction remains open until all have gone through. Park closures do not tend to be. A hard close. Kind of gradual, but be aware that the CS restaurants will probably be done for the day.

Thanks. I made one for 5:45 pm...it'll give us time to wrap up the day, do a little shopping and head to the restaurant on the way out. I know this was a fussy question but you know how it is - those last minute wonderings before making ADR's!

I just checked for funsies on our AK day in January (25) and the latest dinner reservation is at 5:50 PM, but the park closes at 5. So maybe we will get at least 6 that day for park hours.

When AK closes "early", Tusker takes ressies up to 1/2-hr after park closing.
