Early park closing times

I haven't been to WDW in several years and I know SO many things have changed.

But I am a frequent visitor of Disneyland.

So my question is: Why do the parks at WDW close so early?

At DLR, the park routinely closes at midnight and even DCA is open until 10:00pm.

During my scheduled trip (August), the latest the parks will be open is MK until 10:00. Which seems ridiculously early and there's only one night of "extended hours" during my entire week's stay.

Just another one of Disney's cutbacks? Staffing issues? What?

Just keep watching. Disney has been extending park hours about 2 weeks before, presumably as they’re able to estimate attendance and plan staffing better.
