Our school district just released its proposed school calendar for next school year. It looks like we will have a real fall break from Oct. 29 to Nov. 5. :cool1: We usually go a bit earlier in Oct. but with these dates we would not have to take the children out of school. Plus we would still get a regular Thanksgiving break so we would not need to use Holiday time to try to go to WDW.

How would you rank the crowds during that 1st week of Nov.? :confused3

We are familiar with the F&W crowds in Oct. but these dates would be toward the very end of F&W.

Thanks!

So lucky. I wish our school system would have a fall break. That should be a great time. YOu'll get to enjoy the F&W and MVMHP. And it's before Jersey Week. Be sure and make your ressies day by day the minute you can.

I was curious about big events, like jersey week. So they will not be there yet?

Jersey Week should start on Nov 6 next year. But, I haven't seen a schedule yet.

November 6th is a Thursday next year.......is Jersey week the week of the 11/3 or week of 11/10? Hopefully we will be there for the 6th thru 13th......

Our school's 2008 calendar hasn't come out yet, but I'm guessing that NJ week will be 11/3 - 11/7. The NJ teacher's convention usually coincides with Election Day, which is 11/4.

Jersey week is on the busier side, but not nearly as crowded as peak times. I have found that the beginning of Jersey week is much less crowded than the end of the week, which usually runs into Super Soap weekend. We have gone early November the last four years and have loved it... beautiful weather, manageable crowds and often the start of holiday decorations.

You will have a great time!

So it looks like Jersey Week would begin as we leave. I am surprised that it would fall at the same time as a Presidential election? Anywhere that we can find the firm dates for it? Thanks!

We have been to WDW many times at that exact time. The crowds are manageable. Depending on the park and the day. For example, World Showcase on a Saturday evening is jammed. But aside from that, a great time to go. The weather is always nice, and not many long lines.

It is a popular DVC time, particularly at BWV and BCV, so your 11 month window will be helpful.

Enjoy that time of the year at WDW. We love that week!

I am a teacher in Jersey and Jersey week vacation will begin on Sat, 11/1 and run until that following Sun, 11/9. We were at WDW this past Jersey week and found little to no wait for any ride except for Dumbo which always has a long line. We found it quite nice and were able to go through all of the parks but Epcot this past trip. We are looking forward to our next trip for Jersey week 2008.

So Jersey Week will not make for much larger crowds in the park? I am not exactly sure what Jersey Week really is? Is a a teacher's convention?

We were in WDW the first week of Nov last year, and found the crowds to be very manageable. November is one of the favorite times of the year for locals to visit, so it will be more crowded on weekends, but we loved early November.

Yes there is a teacher's convention the Thursday and Friday, so every public school in NJ has off those two days. many school districts take the remaining 3 days off as well. Makes for a wonfderful time to vaca!!

Thanks everyone! As soon as our school board approves the calendar, we will be booking the 1st week in Nov.!! :cool1:

Some districts will have the whole week, some will have just those 2 days, and some will also have off Tuesday the 4th for Election Day and/or Tuesday the 11th for Veteran's Day. Many parents who are not willing to take their children out of school for an entire week will take them out for 2 or 3 days for the opportunity to get over a weeks vacation somewhere during a less busy time.

This past year the crowds everywhere except Epcot seemed to be on the light side as compared to previous years (at least to me and DH). There were many rides we were able to walk on or have just a short wait (10 min). In almost every case, the wait time was much shorter than posted in front of the attraction.

Jersey week has been avoided traditionally.
So just maybe this is a very good week to go.

Why does everyone want to AVOID people from NJ??

I don't live there now but I was born and bred in So Jersey

:yay:
