Hi Everyone,

We'll be at The Boardwalk in a couple of days, yippeee! I just remembered about the phone ringing early in the morning. I had read about it on these boards before our vacation there last Christmas week. Sure enough, our phone rang once (sometimes twice) every morning we were there. I think it was before 6:00 a.m.

We are early risers but sometimes stay up really late at DW and like the fact that we actually sleep in a little bit while there. Do the phones still ring like that, why do they ring like that, and how can I get them not to ring like that?

Thanks and Happy 4th of July!

Our first trip to a DVC resort is in a couple of weeks so I don't know if the phones ring early or why they would unless you put in for a wake up call. But if you positively do not want a phone to ring in the early am - unplug it from the wall. HAVE A GREAT TIME!

I believe most reports have dealt with getting a call on morning of departure, not everyday. Just recently returned from BW; no phone ringing even on day of departure.

We were at WDW about a week ago and stayed at 3 DVC resorts.

OKW...no calls but we were out of the room early.

VWL.....no callls and we took our time leaving.

VB....no calls and we left about 10:15am. But our express check out at VB had a note attached that asked us to call housekeeping when we were leaving.

I have stayed at BWV many times and have never gotten a phone call on any morning including the morning we were checking out. We were just there in May and no phone calls. We have had housekeeping knock on the door the day of check out at around 9:00 am and we just tell them we will be out by 11:00 and there is never a problem.

Thanks for your replies.

Sounds like we don't have to worry about the phone calls. We REALLY did get these calls every day we were there in December. I remember telling my husband that I had read about the calls on here, he was so surprised when it actually happened. And they were before or right around 6:00 am. We may be early risers but we're not usually up and out by then! It's hard enough finding stuff to do when we are wandering around at 7:00! Anyway, I hope that's the end of the early morning calls.

By the way, I forget... can we get room service when we have rented from a DVC owner? I know there is no mousekeeping.

Thanks again!

Sure you can get room service. At BWV you can even get any item from any of the boardwalk restaurants from room service. We love BWV room service, it makes you feel so pampered and spoiled. Just like a vacation should make you feel! Enjoy!!

Yes, you can get room service at the BWV. You should find a menu on the table.

You can also get mousekeeping beyond what is provided to DVC Members and their guests if you want/need it. There is an additional fee that depends on the size of the unit.

Do you know those early morning phone calls were coming from the front desk?

A couple of years ago, I had a similar experience at another hotel. I think another party in the hotel was spread acoss several rooms, and one member had a room number one off mine. Someone would transpose the numbers, and I'd get their phone calls. But they didn't let me know what was going on, they'd just hang up and redial.

On the third day I heard a voice say "Oh damn, I misdialed again" before hanging up the phone.

Over the last two years, I have received these early morning calls on check out day - twice at BW and twice at OKW. Not every trip - but I have received them. I always have my "Privacy Please" sign on the door, but it meant nothing on check out day, evidently. We are not early risers, even on our last day, and I suppose they wanted us to move a little faster. This last trip, a couple of weeks ago, I not only had the sign out, but I took the phone off the cradle as well. I actually wondered if they would knock on the door, but they did not and we were able to sleep! I know that they need to clean the units, but these phone calls are just rude! 11:00 a.m. check out should mean 11:00 a.m.!!
