Early Morning Magic?

That said - I DO agree that Disney does look to do things to improve the guest experience. Folks on the boards sometimes uproar over every change, and really I DO feel like Disney tries to do things to improve that experience for everyone. For instance, they have yet to charge for FP+, even though they've surveyed doing so many times.

Agreed-I went heavy on changes. But didn't really even cover the overall WDW experience. Of course we go for the way MK is decorated at XMAS, or 7DMT, The Mountains, the beauty of AK and the Safari and FOTLK and Nemo, and drinks/dinner/Illuminations at EPCOT, fishing Bay Lake, golfing WDW, strolling the Board Walk, the list goes on and on.

But trying to slam almost every single reason we go?

Wishes is 15 years old. OK so that's not a reason we go? I mean how old if Fantasmic, or the Mountains for that matter? And what about Celebrate the Magic? ME has been around a while? Am I supposed to tell WDW I no longer want ME because its been a round a while? Even though the benefits of that are obvious and amazing. Feeble attempts at best.

Tell me about it.

The only thing bad about dropping $40K on its (since its now worth $80K) is you didn't drop $50K and it would be worth $100K.

Once you have dropped $40 g's....$150/night doesn't sound bad. Let's not forget that first part.....

Paid of the house so its just taxes and utilities. Do people count the principle any more as cost to live there, when its also now double in value?

And don't forget this part.

As far as I've read into it, it's harder to justify DVC now than it was 10 years ago. The only way I would but DVC now is at resale I wouldn't buy a new contract.

Ahh but you asked "why do you go?" if you remember, but nice try to diminish yet again.

And I do recommend resale as well currently.

I know I am just saying if I were to buy DVC it wouldn't be a new contract it would be resale.

Agreed-you can buy one of mine so I can double my investment. Some recovering the principle investment and all my dues paid to date-yes meaning those rooms were FREE.

Just want to drop in and say, re: Magical Express etc and the "they just want to keep you on site" take on those types of services:

Disney isn't tricking me into staying on property. Disney handling my hotel-airport and baggage delivery in both directions is near the top, if not at the top, of things I like about a Disney vacation. It's a huge time and stress saver. After/Before park hours tickets are there for the same reason.

As far as adding new things and all that. Our local park has 3 roller coasters that are 28+ years older than Disneyland. We go to that park a dozen times a season (May-Sept). So using that scale, Magic Kingdom could freeze in place now and I would be ok with it. Do I want them to never change? Of course not, but it isn't a deciding factor in why we go to WDW.

No of course Disney isn't tricking you to stay on property but like you said its a big time and stress saver which in turn makes you more likely to stay on property rather than off property. Also Magical Express means you don't have a rental care so you are way less likely to leave to go to somewhere else like Universal or SeaWorld.

And don't forget this part.

It's a little time share presentery (made a new verb), to present it like I go to Disney and stay deluxe for $150/night. I looked online, can't find a deluxe stay for $150. If you say, I paid $40,000, and now I can stay at Disney for $150/night, that is a little more genuine. Just my thoughts...

Exactly. The assumption that many of us can't think for ourselves is amazing.

Disney really pulled the wool over my eyes with the free ME on top of the basically free deluxe resort stays.

If you say, I paid $40,000 (For a BWV resales 5 years ago at $55 a point), and now I can stay at Disney for $150/night, (and my principle is now worth $80K) that is a little more genuine. Just my thoughts..

Or that the dues over the 5 years were an additional $30K, we stayed for free and put $10K in our pocket.

And yes I have sold 2 contracts that way. One at BCV for 7 years of free stays and one at VWL for 5.

To each their own, but I don't really want to deal with a rental car, let alone driving anywhere once I leave my car at the airport. They don't need to trap me on property, I'm fine with it. Universal and Sea World are nice, but The Bubble makes the whole vacation totally seamless.

But what's interesting is we still fill in deluxe cash stays here and there.

Can be a points shortage from treating family/friends to bigger rooms, or availability problems on shorter notice.

So while its crazy not to take advantage of DVC for us-if it didn't exist we would be paying deluxe prices and be working/budgeting for it.

Exactly. Just saying that you stay for $150/night kind of leaves out a lot of details. Mainly, the part where you have to drop $40,000 initially to get that discount....... Now we are on the same page.

You do realize ME is optional correct? Your statement comes across as you are indeed being tricked into and ya aint smart nuff to even no it.

Other than the 50 point BWV contract we bought for $2,600, and the 100 point ones for $5,700.

Point is it doesn't have to be $40K or 800 points or 10 FULL WEEKS AT BWV each year. (rack rate app $30,000 every year).

Gotcha. An initial investment is needed for the reduced rates. That's where we can all agree.

Yep and go one further.

You check into the BW on cash for 5 nights or $2,500 ($450 plus tax) as many people do.

Or I bought 50 points for 5 nights EVERY year for $2,600 ($100 more) the first year, then $250 a year after that (50 points at $5 dues) for 5 nights every year at $50 a night instead of $450.

Initial investment-the same as one stay.

Plus the $2,600 has gone up almost $10 a point in the 5 years to about $5,000.

So if I sell today which I can-I get the investment back of $2,600, all the dues back of $1,250, and a check for $1,250. All for staying at BWV for 25 nights. Although I did get suckered into ME apparently.
