Early morning magic vs. After Hours Events

I've bought EMM tickets for our stay but everything I've been reading recently says the lines are 15-20 minutes? The whole event is only an hour an 15 minutes so that hardly seems worth it? I'm thinking of cancelling and booking an after hours event instead. We have kids so we'd have to probably take a break during the day in order for them to last. How are the lines for the after hours? Please help me decide which is more "worth it!" Thanks!

For EMM, only Fantasyland is open. The DAH is totally different- most rides are open, and when I went in January everything except 7 dmt was walk-on. 7Dmt wa probably about 7-8 minutes. We rode in the front of barnstormer, and since there was no one else in line, we stayed on three times.

If your kids can stay up late, I vote for DAH for sure. Its 3 hours long, and since you can get in by 7pm thats extra time before the AH even starts to ride some rides. The whole park is basically open and all of the rides during our AH’s (and we’ve been to quite a few) have all been walk-ons to max of about 5-8 minutes for SDMT only. Its so magical being in a park that feels mostly empty and the castle pics with no one in them are great.
