Early morning international departure and ME question

Friends of mine are departing MCO on an international flight to Vancouver at 6 AM. My understanding is that ME drops you off approximately 3 hours so they would likely be at MCO around 2:30-3:00 AM. They are not sure if they want to book a room that night as it will be a waste considering they'll likely leave the resort around 2 AM, if not earlier.

If they check out the morning before, will the resort or ME hold the luggage until later that night/early morning to catch the ME?

Yup, definitely.

So if they check out on the 20th, Disney will hold their luggage until the early morning of the 21st?

Yup. We've done it ourselves. Checked out Sunday morning. Was at MK until after closing. Got back to the resort around 1:30, hung around the lobby, grabbed our luggage around 2:30 and hopped on the Magical Express at 3.

OP: You might want to check, but I thought international flights had a pick up time of 4 hours before departure. I am not sure if Canada is considered "international" by DME or not.

Canada is definitely considered International by DME. Your friends would be picked up four hours before their scheduled flight, not three.
